I have taken the sketch from 365 cards today, where incidentally, one of my cards has been chosen as card of the week this week, Ta Da!! It's this one here !
But I digress!
The papers are chocolate and cream Sweet flourishes from Pink Petticoat. The flowers were made from a couple of Woodware punches which I bought this week. I'm fairly happy with the shaping on the smaller blossoms, but if anyone can give me any tips about making the larger flower more realistic, I'd be glad to hear about it. The centre of the flower is embossed by the punch, but the rest looks rather uninteresting.
The sentiment is Stampin Up on a Cuttlebug die-cut.

PS Thank you for your suggestions as to how I might make the larger flower more interesting. In fact I have tried all of your suggestions on this flower already and wasn't particularly impressed by the effect I achieved. I didn't know whether to try to make the petals curl outwards from the card or inwards towards it. I must confess, I didn't try an embossing folder on the big flower although I do often do that on smaller punchies.
See what happens on my next large flower!!
Beautiful take on todays sketch! Thanks for playing
ReplyDeleteLove your card Chrissie, love the black and white contrast with the red accent. I really like the line of flowers, very stunning.
ReplyDeleteGreat card Chrissie. love the papers and the flowers are great. Have you tried using an embossing tool with a large rounded head to rub on the petals to give them a curved look. I like the way you've highlighted them with the gold and nipped them, might work, wait an see what others say.

beautiful, love these papers. I think you're flowers are just amazing, maybe on the bigger flowers you could try a spot of dry embossing on the back on a foam mat to add a bit of definition? Just follow similar lines to the smaller flowers?

Beautiful card! One of my favorite color combos, and those flowers are FAB-u-lous!
ReplyDeleteThe the way you have used the two different papers .. and the red really sets the whole thing off. Beautiful
ReplyDeleteGreat card, Chrissie. Love the colours you have used - have you tried embossing the flowers in the Bug? Or you could use a ball score pen in the centre of the flower and it will give the petal some shape. Congrats on your Card of the Week, you deserve the recognition - it's a beautiful card. ikki
ReplyDeleteHi Chrissie - stunning card. Love the layout you've used and the papers are fantastic. Eileen got there before me with the suggestion of embossing it - the textile folder is a good one for flowers and you can always sand over the embossed bits if it need more definition.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on you Card of the Week.
hugs Heather xx

Hi Chrissie, your card is fabulous and so very elegant! The flowers look amazing to me and I don't think I could come up with anything better than has already been suggested for the large flower, I look forward to seeing the next one you do. The flower stamens are wonderful, are they a punch too? I haven't seen that before and really like the effect. Love how you used the colours for CC this week, they really are a gorgeous combo. Hope you're having a good weekend. Chris x
