OLW 88

This week at One Layer Wednesday, it's Heather's first time as hostess and for her first challenge she has chosen 'Keep it Small', the focus of the card must be no larger than 2"x2"... a mini masterpiece!
Here's mine!

For this card I masked a small 2"x2" square with Post it  notes and began by stamping the teasels from the Rubber Stamp Gallery with Versamark and clear embossing them.
I then inked the square starting at the top right hand corner with SU Sahara Sand ink, applied with an ink dauber. I then moved in a south westerly direction adding some Crumb Cake ink and finally some Adirondak Cranberry.
I then positioned the SU Joie stamp with my lego positioner and stamped it in Soft Suede ink. Finally came the addition of some text from the SU French Foliage set and the stamping of some of the teasels in Cranberry.
After the embossed teasels were cleaned of any surface ink the masks were removed and hey presto... all done.
For this shape of image I wouldn't normally round the corners of the card...but one was slightly dinged.. so I kinda had to!
Off to lunch today with some old friends of my husband. The chap lived in the same road as he did when he was growing up... so they go back a long way. His wife sadly has Parkinson's Disease and is confined to a wheelchair, but normally manages to enjoy a lunch out!
It will be great to see them again. I don't think they'll recognise Phil as they haven't seen him since he lost 5 stones 12 pounds... I'm up to the 46 pound loss at the moment. 11 lbs to go!

OLW 83

I haven't participated in the last few OLW challenges and I thought I should remedy that!
This one was set by Jennifer who gave a bunch of pictures from which to choose something as inspiration. This one was based on a blue block!
My 'blue block' is a stamp by Art Impressions and the flower  a stamp from Blockhead Paper Arts.
The ink used was Tumbled Glass DI with the trailing leaves of the floral image inked with a Whispers marker.
The sentiment is from Paper Make Up.
Two mega boxes of card in a hugely heavy parcel from Paper Mill Direct has just arrived... now, where to store it???

OLW... Black, Cream and bling!

Such a simple card, a Paper Mill ivory, hammered card base, stamped with an Artemio stylised flower, with black gems on each seed head. The sentiment is from Waltzing Mouse and there's just a trace of Glamour Dust sprinkled along the stems.
If I don't get this posted PDQ it'll be time for the next OLW!
I'd lost another 2lbs at weigh in last night... quelle relief!
My husband is now only 1lb away from his target and has lost a total of 5 and a half stones. I've got a bit of catching up to do!

One Layer Wednesday

To use the colour palette of Yellow, Orange and Aqua as required for One Layer Wednesday this week was a real challenge for me. None of these colours is a particular favourite with me and to put them all together took a little thought to say the least.
This little masked and sponged square with the stamped bits and pieces is what I finally decided upon.
The butterfly and the grasses are from Indigo Blu and the splodges from SU French Foliage (I love that set). The sentiment is a little clear stamp from Studio G.

I finally finished my Retirement cards and delivered then this morning, here are another couple... they are huge... A4 size (8.25 x 11.75 inches approx) and quite a challenge to fill!

I hope there will be enough room for all the signatures!

OLW 51

The challenge this week for One Layer Wednesday is to make three cards, each using the same stamp/stamps but with different sentiments and different ink/cardstock.
Here I have used a Stampin' Up set called Oh so Lovely.
The sentiments are from a clear set by Personal Impressions, which I bought very cheaply at the NEC last year and use very frequently.

I have my tissues at the ready, the TV is on and I shall be glued to the TV for most of the day. I hope everyone has a great day and that the weather is kind for the Royal Couple and all the thousands who have travelled to London to see the spectacle. God Bless them both!

OLW 50 Thanks

The challenge this week at One Layer Wednesday is to make a Thank you card using an old stamp.
This Hobby Art image is one of the first that I bought and has sadly lost condition due to a session using it with bleach!
Despite cleaning it immediately after use, the bleach seems to have reacted with the rubber and made it slightly tacky and I don't get such a crisp impression as I did when it was first purchased... but I can't bring myself to throw it away.
The sentiment is part of a polymer stamp from Heidi Swapp. It actually has another word of thanks at right angles to these, which I didn't need for this card, so I simply covered it with sticky tape whilst I inked the stamp and then pulled it off before stamping.
The rectangle was sponged with the same Crumb cake ink using a mask.
Have a great day!

OLW Eggs

Just a quickie with my card for Susan's One Layer Wednesday challenge which this week is eggs!
I remembered these stamps which have been hiding away fro quite a while... I don't know the make as they are unmounted and I think I got them from eBay.
I've simply heat embossed them in gold and added a sentiment!
They really do make a great impression!

OLW 42

I have been away from my desk quite a lot this week and only just got around to seeing what the challenge for One Layer Wednesday was. It had to have some musical reference.
I dug out these stamps with what turned out to be sad irony... the sentiment reads "Where words fail, music speaks". No sooner had I finished the card when the phone rang and a friend from the Isle of Wight, the conductor of a choir with whom we have sung many times, told us that her husband had passed away this morning.
The sentiment on this card was perfect for this occasion and I quickly wrote our message and rushed to the post box to catch the last post this morning.
Both the stamp and the sentiment are from Stampin' Up and I love them both. I stamped the image onto scrap and cut out the square shape to use the remainder as a mask for sponging colour onto the image. I used Old Paper and Spun Sugar distress inks.
As the last card was used so suddenly for a sad occasion, I thought I'd do another card for the challenge. The layout of this was inspired by Heather T ... simply masked and stamped, with addition of a touch of red in the form of a few tiny butterflies!

OLW 41

The challenge at One Layer Wednesday this week is for a Christmas card in Green and Red stamped on White or Cream.
Sounds easy I hear you say! Oh dear me no! Once I decided on my stamps which took quite some time as I found the limited colours a challenge in itself, I then proceeded to get the positioning wrong, the stamping uneven,   and the realisation dawned that I would have to mask the  'y' in 'Merry' in order to add the holly!
Finally I got that lot sorted only to  see a trace of ink on the bottom of the card and a little dab of green outside the line.... so that went in the bin.
The is the last chance saloon... this is it... no more attempts... I actually quite like it now!
Can't remember what make the stamps are as they are clings and the packaging has long since disappeared but come next Christmas, there'll be one fewer card to make!
I've just realised that I've given the holly albino berries... I was wondering whether to do mistletoe or holly and eventually settled on holly, but I think I must still have had the mistletoe in my mind... senior moment!

One Layer Wednesday 40 & Surprise Bouquet

Jennifer is being really strict with the One Layer Wednesday challenge this week. We may use 2 and 2 only images and NO sentiment.
Here I stamped the background rectangle with Sahara Sand and then stamped my new acquisition (Lovely as a tree from SU)  over the top!
I find it quite pleasing. I did experiment with a different shape card to begin with but preferred this square in the end. I seem to be a little behind with my card making. Must have something to do with a certain new grandchild I think.
Yesterday I was surprised by my daughter and her hubby who sent this lovely bouquet to me to thank me for the support I gave her prior to Sebastian's birth. What a lovely daughter!

Couldn't resist another OLW

The challenge at One Layer Wednesday is to simply use sentiments... no images whatsoever!
I found these sentiments in one of my little drawers and couldn't resist another bash!
I embossed the front of the card with a Nestie and then placed the cling stamps into the embossed square. When I was happy with the position of the stamps I pressed an acrylic block onto them and then lifted it to ink up the stamps.
One press and it was done.
I can't actually find the link to add this card to OLW... but I hoped you'd like to see it anyway!
