Designer Paper

I guess many of us who have gravitated to the CAS style of card making have stacks of Designer Paper sitting languishing in drawers and boxes. It is possible to use it in a clean and simple style and that's what we're looking for at "Less is More" this week.
Here I used some paper from Pink Petticoat together with dies from Poppy stamps to make this inlaid die cut card. I must confess that some of the pieces were really fiddly to insert, but luckily none pinged into oblivion before being inserted. The Hobby Art sentiment was stamped in SU Smoky Slate ink to match the paper and die cut with a stitched rectangle from Simon Says Stamp, elongated slightly to fit the sentiment.
Sorry for the dreadful picture, I'm having technology problems at the moment!
Of course when you do an inlaid die-cut, you get a positive and a negative, so here is another card using the negative from the previous one!
The sentiment is from Wplus9.
I have a few other cards part-made but time ran away from me... I may add some more later in the week.
I'm off to my nephew's wedding today. The evening part has a Cluedo theme, so my husband is going as Rev. Green with a borrowed shirt from a priest friend of ours and I shall be a geriatric Miss Scarlett!
There may be pictures later!!!

Lucky Dip Week at Less is More

Whenever there is a five Saturday month, we have a Lucky Dip week with a Guest Designer at "Less is More".
This is one of those weeks and we have Val from Canonbury Creations as our Guest this month, so do head over and join us!!

The challenge is Paper Piecing.
The stamps are from Wplus9 and the elephant was simply paper-pieced using a piece of gingham DP. The panel was die-cut with Simon Says Stamp stitched dies.
Sadly this is my only contribution this week as I have just returned from Disneyland Paris with my grandchildren, where we stayed at the Dream Castle Hotel. So here are a few pictures by way of excuse!

Enjoying a cuppa!
My daughter and grandchildren on a lovely day in Disneyland!
Here is granny, having just had a vanilla ice-cream (picture taken by Sebby Aged 4).  He thought I chose vanilla because it was the same colour as my hair!

Lucky Dip at Less is More

We have a Guest Designer this week at Less is More so do pop over there to see what Elaine has produced.
I have only managed one card this week as we have had our two grandchildren with us, so we have been rather busy!
The challenge is to use Mists or Sprays!
This background was made by squishing flowers from the garden between two pieces of card in my Cuttlebug machine. I love this technique, but this time, when dry and removed of debris, I spritzed the card with Cosmic Shimmer to give a bit of added sheen.
The butterfly is from a Memory Box die, the foliage from Wplus9 and the sentiment from Hero Arts.

Sand

The challenge this week at 'Less is More' is SAND.
We have a Guest Designer, Hannelie, whose blog is called Desert Diva...hence the theme this time.

This is a digi stamp from Just INK lined, coloured with Copics and mounted using a Sizzix die. The two shells are from an old Cuttlebug die, one of the first I bought. I love the crispness of the cutting from these dies.
The sentiment is from a clear set by Hero Arts.
This one is a digi image from the Wax Fruit Company and coloured with various markers, it has a measure of Glamour Dust added which makes the sea look great I think!
The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.
This sand coloured cat makes me smile!
He's really howling! I bought it from Creative Images, and ended up buying a grab bag of  unseen, assorted stamps at the same time. There were a few good ones, amongst them was a stamp with this sentiment although I have made this one on the computer. That made me smile too!

We have had a couple of disasters in the house recently including water through the ceiling and an exploding microwave.
When the new one (microwave) arrived it wouldn't fit into the gap left by the old one and so the chaps had to partially dismantle some of my kitchen and take it away to adapt so that the oven and microwave would both fit.
This they did admirably, bringing it back the next day only to find that the microwave wouldn't work.
To cut an extremely long story shorter... after being taken away and tested, a day later all is back and all is in place and working.

Quelle relief!
We still have to have the dining room ceiling replaced, but that's another story!
Have a great weekend!

Lucky Dip at Less is More

This month we are fortunate enough to have 5 Saturdays, which means that at "Less is More" we have an extra challenge plus a Guest Designer.
For our Lucky Dip challenge this month we have chosen to use the blog header as the inspiration for the card creations. Here it is!
"Less is More"
We are really lucky to have have Kim as our Guest Designer this month and her cards have been an inspiration to us all  from the get go.
I have done a couple of cards, one as a direct case of the header and the other using the music and the flourishes, plus the general colour as the basis for my card.
Details of what I used on this are on the LIM blog!

This is one of my usual emboss resist  and inking cards. It's a little more removed from the original than the first card, but I hope you can see the influence of our header in it!
Do join us over at "Less is More"... what can you come up with?
