I tried to resurrect some of the images I'd done to make into non-one layer cards, but then I stuck one image on upside down.
This may look reasonable to you, but there is some music manuscript stamped in gold on this and if you were to look really closely you'd see it was upside down... plus I made it with the darker shade of ink at the bottom. These two are simply cut out and stuck on to look like the first card but are not in fact one layer! I used a little embossing powder on these, plus it's smoother card so the overall effect is shinier.
For this one I used 4 different clear cling stamps (a present some time ago from my bloggy friend Victoria, thanks again Victoria) and a couple of Embosslits butterflies, gently twinkled.
The theme this week at "Less is More" is In the Frame... there must be loads of ways of interpreting it, this last card uses an image from our sponsor at "Less is More" this month... Arielle of the Wax Fruit company and she has lots of images in or partly in frames...why don't you take a look and do come and join us in our challenge.
This last one is also for the CAS challenge at the Stampotique challenge blog this time.
Loving the fact that your inky fingers spoil things! Mine do!
ReplyDeletegreat cards
Sue :)
I love these Chrissie! Especially the butterfly one...love the colours :)

What a lovely selection of cards. I do like the one layer card you've made - super colours and great design. However, my favourites are the ones you rescued!! Great colours.
ReplyDeleteThey are all lovely Chrissie but the first is just stunning, really clever. I would have messed up every one tho, I am always getting iny fingers on things and ruining them!
ReplyDeleteHugs xx
Oh dear nice to know you mess things up too !!!!! my favorite is the first card very stunning will have to see if i can come up with anything Luv Sue x
ReplyDeleteLove your cards Chrissie, the colours are gorgeous on the 2nd and 3rd ones:) Lots of ideas coming through for this challenge, looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteVal x
Why do I get a compulsion to feed the fish when i come her? LOL
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards especially the first 3 and of those the 2 with hot colours, probably the upside down shows more clearly irl or maybe just to you because you know. it is still hot and lush. And its good to know you get inky and messy! XOXO Zoe
Love these Chrissie, you are the Queen of inking.. I would have far more spoiled ones than good cards :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you didn't change the challenge but I was only guessing what 'in the frame' actually meant.
Jenny x
What an amazing group of cards! The wash of colors is beautiful and I totally hear what you are saying about inky fingers and upside down stamps. When
ReplyDeleteI am getting to the end of a creation that I am loving, I go through dozens of baby wipes and I stamp the same stamp onto scratch paper a number of times to make sure it's right (as if it is magically going to turn itself upside down after I test stamp the first time) and with all of that I still sometimes find thumbprints!
Fantastic cards
ReplyDeleteSuper cards Chrissie. Colours and images in the first one are very pretty but I have to say I love the richer tones in the second and third. Thanks for another great challenge. x
ReplyDeleteLove the cards and the challenge again this week, Brilliant fun, thanks for hosting it for us Limettes xx Hazelxo
ReplyDeleteFab cards again Chrissie, shame about the inky fingers but I think we have all been there too lol :O) Viv xx
ReplyDeleteLove all the cards, but the first is my favourite. My card last week was not really 'less is more', but did not actually realise until I had posted - doh! My apologies - and will enjoy this week's challenge. Lynn x
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous cards Chrissie.
ReplyDeleteHugs Riet.xx
WOW Chrissie . . . these cards are all so lovely and so varied. You really went to town this week!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sandra View my card HERE!
Great cards Chrissie, I ruined a good few with inky fingers too, before I decided to use the pc
ReplyDeleteBeryl x
love all your cards. They are so stunning and such great inspiration. I am always getting into pickles with inky fingers. Thanks for sharing and have a great day. Angela
ReplyDeleteA stunning selection of cards Chrissie. My favourites are the first and last ones. I think we've all had our share of disasters with inky fingers etc. The other day when I was making my LIM card I managed to put the butterfly stamp on the block smooth side up and then wondered why the image was blurred lol!!
ReplyDeleteKat x
All of these are gorgeous cards. I do love your first one and the hot colours in the others, gosh not sure I can pick one.
ReplyDeleteThank you again for these fantastic challenges, don't think I would try half the things I have with out your super blog, looking forward to more! xx
wow... five amazing cards! the one with the butterflies is my favorite, i think!
ReplyDeleteWow! Sounds like you had some of the same issues I did! LOL! I almost gave up this week, because everything I did was wrong! I had one almost perfect one and then realized I'd done it all on the BACK of the card! Duh!
ReplyDeleteI love all your cards...I especially love the ones that aren't true OL....the red with the gold embossing is awesome.
It's probably just me, but for some reason the first card doesn't look balanced. I think I might have made it one line and put it under the right side of the square - but that's probably my OCD coming out. It is a gorgeous card.
My personal favorite is the last card. Those tulips are just fab...and the coloring is perfect.
My Card
You've certainly given us lots of inspirations. Love SU's Fresh Foliage. The color wash really does it justice. I think the last is my fave with that original separation of the frames...very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for getting together with Mandi and picking me....I'm so very honoed to be show-cased.
Fabulous cards Chrissie couldn't wait to play as soon as I got back from my holidays :D gutted I missed last week :(
ReplyDeletethanks for another fab challenge

You have a great selection of cards there Chrissie. I love your arty ones. I like doing this sort of thing too and like you get into a really inky mess and get fingermarks everywhere. Sue.x
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous Chrissie - love the colours on the first one!
ReplyDeleteHelen x
Fabulous selection of cards Chrissie, lots of inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHelen x
Wonderful cards, I love them all, but my favourite has to be the pink tulips, so bright and jolly, and I like the saller box of tulips by the longer box, it looks fab!
ReplyDeleteHi hun
ReplyDeletegorgeous selection of cards, luv the orange, i always bugger me cards up with inky fingers! sue,x
All so clever Chrissie, inky fingers or no, they are all beautiful, love the orange ones, they look warm on this cold wet June day :)
ReplyDeleteChrissie, I love all your card, They are always such an inspiration
ReplyDeleteisa
Hi Chrissie, Beautiful cards, four no less I'm impressed! My absolute favourite is the last the beautiful tulips in the frame, gorgeous colours, it sings to me:0)
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem as you this week and messed up at least 3 cards all in the bin but that's all par for the course. Thank you so much for another fab challenge, I really enjoy it, hugs Gay xx
Your cards are always fab Chrissie but the top one here is a real show-stopper and just the kind of card I love - loads of white space and a layered sponged image! The other cards are gorgeous too but I really had to have a little sit down after seeing the first. My French Foliage set arrives this week so thanks for the inspiration. Vx
ReplyDeleteThese are such gorgeous cards Chrissie. I have often been scuppered by inky finger marks right at the end of making a card!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your inspiration and providing us with such a great challenge!
ReplyDeleteJeannie x
Where to start? These are all fantastic Chrissie. So love those warm colours with gold - they are stunning even if they aren't OLCs.
ReplyDeleteYou got me thinking....I almost spoiled a card yesterday when I pricked my finger and 3 spots of blood appeared right beside where I'd been embroidering. I dabbed the spots with a baby wipe and they disappeared. Now, would that work with ink too? Not sure, but it may be worth a try.
Keep warm hunni!
Hugs,
Sharon xx
I am sorry but I really can't believe that you or Mandi make any mistakes. Both of you do just fantastic cards and so very professional.
ReplyDeleteAll your cards for this week are wonderful.
Also an added bonus is the chandellier hasn't blocked out the image.
Kath x
They're all beautiful but I love the last one with the flowers on it best!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Chrissie! I am particularly drawn to the first card. Love all the masking adn the french foliage set. I have just bought this set in my lastest order. I must get it inked up!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Victoria ~x~
This is awesome! I love the colours and everything. this was the technique I was attempting in my entry last week which ended up so badly that it had to go to the bin. Unlike you, i moved on. Still, glad you persevered as the final card is a masterpiece.
ReplyDeletecheers,
Malyn
All fab cards Chrissie but the first one is my absolute fave - gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteChrissie, thanks for the warm welcome on my first challenge entry with LIM! Your first card really sparked my imagination! Thanks for the inspiration! Your card is lovely and that set just calls to me! The dry embossed frame upon more inspection is wonderful and offsets your images beautifully. Beautiful work on all your cards.
ReplyDeleteNice of you to share the fact that even you mess up!
ReplyDeleteI love the first card, absolutely stunning.
Avril x
What a gorgeous collection of cards. I believe the first one is my favorite. I love the colors you've used. It's just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThey all are gorgeous

Wonderful set of cards! Thanks for joining us at Stampotique Designer’s Challenge # 32.
ReplyDeleteLove all these beautiful cards! Thank you for joining the Stampotique designer's challenge
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards....the first being my favorite..just so soft and has a vintage feel to it! I too messed up my entry for this week, as I got specks of embossing power on it...working in the wee hours of the night I just didn't see it...but I entered it, and now will scrap it to reuse...sigh!!
ReplyDeleteI love all your cards Chrissie, I love your ink work - beautiful colours. I think my fave card is the tulip one though, just makes me smile! xx
ReplyDeleteLOVE these cards Chrissie, I would have messed up too, I am constantly smudging just before I'm finished. Thanks for the demo, I'd love to try out this technique myself.
ReplyDeleteLove ALL your cards...particularly the first one! x
ReplyDeleteWow all these cards are so pretty Chrissie! But my absolute favorite is the tulip one. I have these images, but never thought about using them together! Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Larisssa
All of them are beautiful! My favorites though are the first and last ones.
ReplyDeleteof course you do CAS well, thanks for joining us at the stampotique challenge!
ReplyDeletethese are all brilliant!! i absolutely love the first one!! =)
ReplyDeletehugs, SannaS
All beautiful cards Chrissie. Nice to know that you sometimes have mishaps too - I ruined a card today with my inky fingers. Lisa x
ReplyDeleteHi Chrissie, they are all wonderful cards. Personally I like the last one best - it's just so cheerful. I'm terrible when it comes to clean hands with white card blanks, you can pretty much know that there will be a smudge somewhere! Sarah
ReplyDeleteAll lovely card Chrissie. My favorite is the one with the little butterfkys on.
ReplyDeletehugs
Sharon xx
I love the rich colors of your cards! ;)
ReplyDeleteYour cards are gorgeous, I love the SU French Foliage stamp set and the tulip card is so pretty. It was my first time playing along at LIM and can see where I went wrong now I've seen your blog,I definitely need more white space. Thanks for the inspiration, i will look forward to giving it another go next week.xxxx
ReplyDeleteThese are all beautiful cards, but I do adore the last one the most. Thanks for joining us at Stampotique Designer's Challenge.
