By anyone's standards, this is a mess!
A few weeks ago I bought three new ribbon racks, which are great for my reels of ribbon, but I have a fair amount of other bits and bobs which have gradually got into quite pickle. So I took the bull by the horns and had a tidy up!
There, that's better!
I can actually see what I've got in the box now! I also discovered a few ribbons I had forgotten about completely.
On my desk this morning are a bunch of envelopes for some cards I made, for which I can't seem to find ready made envelopes. I love the dimensions of this rectangular card and can just manage to get an envelope out of a sheet of A4. I use my Enveloper Pro and worked out the scoring formula for this particular envelope by trial and error.
I think I managed to visit everyone last week... and had visits from lots of lovely people, so thank you all!
Tomorrow, I'm going to be meeting a couple of friends for the first time... Val who is on the DT with me at One Stop Cards and Crafts and Anne (Stargroves) who is on the DT with me at Cooking it Up with Katie.
Guess where we're going!!!
You got it... the NEC for the craft fair. Give us a wave if you see us!
I wonder what we'll buy!
Pop over to Julia's WOYWW... the link is on my side bar, to visit work desks around the world and broaden your circle of friends!
I can't believe you beat Annette. She was up so late, too! The ribbon by the yard must be a scrapbook thing. Most of the ribbon I buy comes by the spool. I've only seen ribbon sold by the yard in pricey scrapbook places. But I must say, you have really given that ribbon box the old tidy number.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Enveloper Pro, it's yet another thing I've never heard of. That's why this snooping is so much fun. Happy WOYWW from #1.
oh i too am still sorting my ribbons, out hun,but not got that far yet, love yours which are now all lovely and tidy, have not tried one of those envelope, pro's yet, hugs cheryl xxxxx
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I'm not the only one with ribbon problems! I still have a box like your first picture and keep meaning to sort through them, well done you - a fine example :-) Christine #7

ReplyDeleteChrissie, another ribbon-holic I see. It will hopefully make things easier for you now that they bits-and-pieces of ribbons not on reels are sorted. Hope you have a lovely time at the NEC. Thanks for sharing your workspace. Best wishes, Kym xxx (WOYWW No 36)
ReplyDeleteOoo, have fun at the NEC. I went to that show a few years back and it's huuuuuge!
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed you sorted your ribbons out, it's great when you find stuff you'd forgotten about. Like getting new stash for free!

Oh wish I was going to the NEC too. You have a great time - and what I want to know is "will you be buying any more ribbons?"
ReplyDeleteAll that lovely ribbon. Yum! I hope you're better at it than I am: every time I sort my ribbon it only lasts for a month. At most!
ReplyDeleteGood luck and have fun.
cheers,
rachel #34
Very commendable of you Chrissie to tidy up your ribbons! My box looks like the first picture too, wish I was more tidy :) Hope to be going to the NEC myself on Friday. Have a good time.

congratulaitons on your tidy up. i think my ribbons need a tidy up too. and what in the world is an enveloper pro?
ReplyDeleteI have most of my ribbons on little bobbins in a box for embroidery threads (well five of them actually) but I still manage to have lots of odd bits thrown in a box that get tangled and messy. Not sure what the answers is to that other than to buy more boxes and bobbins.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day at the NEC and your meeting with the girls. Can’t wait to see what you buy.

ReplyDeleteHi Chrissie, don't suppose you fancy popping over and sorting my ribbons out? Enjoy the NEC. I was at the hobbycrafts in Glasgow at the weekend and spent far too much
ReplyDeletexx
Isn't it a good feeling to get organized, so you can then turn around and make a new mess? Thanks for sharing what's on your desk today.
ReplyDeleteIts a good job i didn't have a drink of my coffee right then - i would have spit it out at the sight of your ribbon box LOL!!! So glad you managed to tidy it up. I have a box of ribbons that are wrapped around card- then i typed out the colours and type of the ribbon and die cut with one of the smaller dies in the labels 8 set - looks quite effective, but my box isn't as neat as your new look!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW - you're going to the NEC... I'm still hoping that Darren will take me on Friday - I nearly ended up going in October having convinced myself it was then before I found out it was November!!! Story of my life!
Have a super fab time - and don't buy everything up - leave me some!!!!
Have a good one

I'd like to be going to the NEC too - hope you have a great time. What a difference you have made to those ribbons - I chuckled when you wrote that you found ribbon you'd forgotten you had - happens to me all the time! And like you I have met lots of interesting people through WOYWW - it's great:) Elizabeth #98
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting some organizing done! Wish I could say the same for myself!

whhhhhoo Chrissie have you seen my ribbons get yasef over here lol. Joey.x
ReplyDeleteI've got most of my 'nice' ribbons in jars, but loads more in a plastic lidded box and that's always a mess, nice tho' when you find a ribbon you forgot you had, maddening when you find one that you've already buy twice before! Have a great woyww
ReplyDelete(Lyn)
what a great collection of easily visible ribbon. It always feels good to have things tidied up a bit.
ReplyDeleteLove the neat ribbons now - nice to have a sort out.

Well done on sorting the ribbon, it is always such a great feeling once it is organised - hope you had a lovely time at NEC!! Annette #5
ReplyDeleteGood job on the ribbon sorting...I did mine a while back but it is a constant battle against the tangles during a flurried arty session when I start pulling all colours...
ReplyDeletesasa
Great organization idea and have fun at the NEC!
ReplyDeleteWell done you for tidying up all those ribbons, they always get in such a muddle don't they and I have to admit I quite like seeing a heap in a box. I just want to delve in!!
