Watch the birdie!

SO many birds seem to creep into Christmas cards, that this week we have decided to have the challenge at "Less is More" to be a Christmas card, but with a bird somewhere!
Here is a cute little robin, tired from a spot of tree trimming!
I know that the embossing folder is from Sizzix,, but I'm not sure of the origin of the stamps.
I'm not certain if this little Hero Arts bird was supposed to be a robin . but I decided to make him into one. The British robin is rather different from the American version... ours being much smaller and chubbier than its American cousin which is more the size of a blackbird.

This one is a cardinal maybe? It's not a bird we see in Britain anyway more's the pity. I used to see them on our deck when we lived in Virginia!
Simple card with a Memory Box Die cut tree.
This last one is a total failure, it was one of those 'it seemed a good idea at the time' situations, but I thought I'd post it anyway as it may give someone an idea of how it could be done successfully!
He's a cute penguin anyway... from Stampin' Up.
I hope everyone has fun with this one.

  11. Chrissie,
Love all your cards and I really appreciate all the time you take to comment on every submitted card on the Less is More Blog.
    It really means a lot. This week on your comment you asked about my cardinal. Here's how I made him;

Punch the bird & wing out of red, chalk around the edges with black.

Punch another bird and wing out of red

cut out a tail point , shade with chalk, glue onto original bird.

from the wing cut out the point and shade with chalk and add to head.

Punch a bird out of orange

cut out beak part and glue it onto the original bird

Punch another bird out of black....

with pencil ( I only used white so you could see it better)

draw the cardinal black part ( lol...OK what would you call it?!)

and glue onto the original bird....don't forget to cut off the beak part first.

I added a tiny black bead for his eye

  12. Honestly, you never fail to delight the daylight outta me, Chrissie! I know I say it every week, but THESE are now my favorite cards you've made! Those birds are so stinkin' cute and how you have framed them is divine. You must turn down requests to be on Design Teams every day of the week!!

I don't know if I will have time to play, darn it, with hosting Thanksgiving, so I wanted to make sure and stop in here to let you know I love these cards ... even the total failure! Ha Ha. As if!! Hugs, Darnell
