 Here's a card for the challenge at ABC Christmas where the letters this time are W for White and X for eXtra special.

The embossing folder is by Sizzix, treated with the Eclipse technique, using a die set by Poppy Stamps. The edges of the letters are twinkled with some Glamour Dust. The poinsettia is by Britannia dies with a few tiny gems added to the centre.

I seem to have been AWOL from my blog for quite a while, but I have been spending lots of time making videos. It would be great if you could check out my channel.

Welcome

There's something about a new baby and an all white card that goes hand in hand... the purity of a new life and all white elements seem to me to be the perfect pairing.

I keep discovering dies that I had forgotten I had and having no recollection of their origin as with the scalloped edging, however I do believe that the rabbit is by Alexandra  Renke, the welcome is from Poppy Stamps and the tiny stars are the waste from a SSS background die.

When I saw the challenge at Just Us Girls, I immediately thought of this fairly newly acquired little die from Creative-Depot. Being all white on white, it's a little tricky to see the half snowflake descending over the aperture. I dry embossed a snowy backdrop for the shaker part and filled it with creamy white sequins and little shiny things. The sentiment is stacked three times.

Extremely CAS, but I guess that's me!

I found trying to get a decent picture of this stark white card really difficult. I tried different backdrops but just couldn't seem to get anything right. For now this will have to do!

I fancied making a white on white card and had a couple of challenges in mind.

The bauble was made with a freebie die plus a smaller circle die plus a Sizzix holly embossing folder. I began to emboss the horizontal element of the sketch but then got carried away and did the whole width of the front panel. I will quite understand if this is totally ineligible for the challenge!

I'm not sure where the holly die came from, that may well have been a freebie too!

The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.

It's time to begin preparing Sunday lunch if we want to eat any time soon!

 

Merry Christmas

As I was glancing through my list of challenges which I like to enter I spotted the one from 

Christmas 24 which is 

I love this concept and like to make them whenever I think about it!

This one was made completely with dies. I stacked two layers for the wreath, before twinkling with a little Glamour Dust. The sentiment was about 4 or 5 layers, which I left un-twinkled so as to stand out from its backdrop.

The frame was made by dry embossing a square, stitched die on the card front. You can scarcely see them but there are some tiny, tiny gems on the sentiment, at the ends of the swirls.

Some years ago one of my cards found its way to a lady in Northern Ireland and since that time she has contacted me to make personalised cards for many occasions for many of her family and friends.

This week was one such occasion... it started as a request for four cards, which turned into an additional two before they were posted off to her this morning. This is for one of the requests. 

The way that I get the text onto the correct part of the card is all very technical... I have my Word program set to 105% zoom which makes it just about the same size as a sheet of A4, so using text boxes I put the words into the correct place by holding the front panel of the card with the aperture cut into it, over my screen and then move the text boxes around until the words fit behind the aperture! I'm sure there's a proper way of doing it, but it works for me.

All White

My husband is the Chairman of our choir... the Portsmouth Choral Union. Each Christmas he likes to send Christmas greetings to the President and Vice-Presidents of the society and since his office began I have made the cards for these rather special people. 

This is my design for this year.

The challenge at AAA cards calls for mostly white... so apart from the message inside it is mostly white.

I'm nit sure of the origin of the snowflake die, it was a gift and I am delighted with it. However it is rather delicate and without the embossed image to follow I think it would have been quite difficult to arrange accurately on the card.

I have just had a try out of my Christmas nail colour... it's very red and very twinkly... maybe I'll get used to it!

"Less is More" is 5!

Can you believe that "Less is More" has been going strongly for five years!

I don't know where the time has gone to!

This week there are lots of sponsors and lots of prizes so a very good reason to join in.

As with our very first challenge, it's a colour theme and those chosen this time are

WHITE ON WHITE

Here is a die from MFT, embossed with a Craft Concepts EF, part of which fits the cups of this bra perfectly. The sentiment is from a Penny Black die with additional words computer generated,

I did have a thought after I'd made this that I could have put the  'for your support' bit behind a  lift up flap... maybe next time.

The sentiment here goes to all those who have supported Less is More over the years and it's truly heartfelt.

Here I am in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, last week at the beautiful Konoko Falls and Park... I do apologise for my lack of commenting during my holiday, but on board a cruise ship, there didn't seem to be lots of time!

Here's another white on white shaker card, using all die cuts. The champagne glass is from MFT, the letters are from Memory Box, Alphabet Soup with the @ sign from Cuttlebug.

Finally a wedding card using die-cuts and the Couture Creations embossing folder entitled Tied Together which I think seems so appropriate for a wedding card!

The heart is from Simon Says Stamp, the initials from Cuttlebug, the flourish from MFT and I'm uncertain of the make of the stitched, rounded rectangle.

The sentiment is computer generated in Andalus and Alex Brush Fonts.

I do hope that there will be a bumper number of entries in Less is More's challenge this week to celebrate quite an achievement!

White on White

Well it's Saturday and that can only mean one thing... time for another  challenge from "Less is More".

This week it's another colour challenge and Mandi and I chose 'White on White'. Each of us loves this colour choice for cards and can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

The sponsor for this month's challenge is Paper Garden Projects and I used a dogwood image from the Spring Trees set. The dogwood is the state flower in Virginia, where I lived for three years when our son was tiny, and so I've had a soft spot for it ever since.

This card uses a Marianne Creatables die for the large circle and a Cuttlebug die for the tag. The embossing is from Cuttlebug and I've added a quick tutorial on the LIM blog on how to emboss a piece of card wider than the actual folder itself.

Today it's raining, I must say that the gardens need it desperately, it's a pity that it doesn't rain just during the hours of darkness then we could wake up to a fresh green world... and not get soaked trying to get anywhere!
