Sumpin's Wrong!

I love this image from Mo's Digital Pencil, but today for some reason the ink was smudging when I used my copics. This is the third image I coloured, and I'm not too keen on the effect of this one either. If anyone has a foolproof method of stopping printer ink from smudging when using Copics I should be glad to hear from you.
The shirt and jeans have been paper pieced... it's probably as well, or that part might have been smudged too!
The challenges this time are
Taylored Expressions - Sketch #108
I love Digi Challenge - 3 papers, 2 brads 1 embellishment
Tuesday morning sketches - Soft Hues, Flowers, Ribbons
Digital Tuesday - Paper piecing
The papers are a mix of Canon (the jeans and the big spots) and Pink Petticoat.
The stitching is faux stitching I'm afraid, my machine still isn't in first class order.
I went to the hospital this morning for a pre-op assessment, in preparation for minor surgery on my knee next week. I'm looking forward to being able to get back into some sort of exercise regime, whether I'll enjoy the actual exercise as much, remains to be seen!

  1. I had problems with the smudging with inkjet prints so my daughter's boyfriend suggested I buy a B&W laserjet printer - they are not that expensive and the prints are perfect - no smudging - copics are fine! If you want to stay with inkjet maybe more smooth paper would help!
Thats all the advice I can offer!

  3. Hi Chrissie
Fabby card gal! I think it's so cute :o)
I had the same problems with copics. This is what works for me:
Make sure you print the image in the best qality picture settings
Wait for each layer to dry before redoing or adding another layer of colour. I usual start with the darker outline, then wait for it to dry, then add the lighter shade, wait to dry etc...

  5. I love the cards you create with this image, but this one just might be my favorite! I love the quilted look of this card. And I didn't notice any smudges :)

  6. Hi Chrissie, looks perfect to me, love this image, he is sooo cute! I have found a very light spray of cheap hairspray before colouring works on digi images, worth a try.

Hope the surgery goes well next week.

  8. This is too cute! The image is darling as are all of mo's digis. Sorry you had trouble with smudging, I am having that problem a lot too recently. What I do sometimes now is sprinkle clear embossing powder on the image as soon as I get it off of the printer, then heat emboss it. That helps mostly, but you really have to work fast with the powder or it will be too dry and it won't stick.

Thank you so much for playing the DTC!

  12. Hi Chrissie, gorgeous card :o)
I print out well before I need to colour. Give it several hours to dry out and it works a treat :o)

  13. Chrissie that is a great card and I love the colouring. I read of something called Inkjet Fixative Spray which you can get in satin or gloss. I found it on Amazon but was unable to find it in any store.
