New Baby

My daughter asked me to make a congratulations card for her friend who gave birth to a daughter yesterday. She requested a stork & baby card (I have a cute Quickutz 2 piece die which she likes), but she asked me NOT to use baby pink as the new mum wasn't keen on it, but to use more of a fuchsia pink instead .
So I used a strong pink and I really don't like it.I don't know if the new mum will like it, but to me it's just not the thing. So I went ahead and made a card for her from me (I have met this friend several times) and I HAVE used baby pink. I'm blogging both cards so that you can make your own judgement. To my mind the strong pink is too harsh for a tiny baby. It doesn't actually go with the name they have chosen either, Amber is a warm colour and this pink is very cold. Hey Ho!
It is the top card that I am entering into a few challenges.
Quixotic - Something for Mum
Crafty Catz - Charming Bear
Cute Card Thursday - Metal Mania
I have several things to get on with today and it's been one of those days when I'm dripping around doing a lot of not much!

  3. baby pink is called baby pink for a reason ??? I love the concept of the card and the layout - but agree that baby pink would have been lovely. Lemon may have been nice too.

  4. Well I'm about to disagree!! LOL I like the move away from the normal baby pink.... think it's a modern card which is great for some of todays Mum's... my Mother nearly had a hissy fit whilst out shopping one day when she saw a baby girl dressed in a navy suit with white polka dots and a matching headband! (I thought it was a fab outfit!! LOL)
Both cards are real nice - and am sure any new mum will appreciate either... don't you think sometimes we make cards that WE like rather than what other people might like? LOL

  5. I think that you're right Viv, we do like to make cards that WE like, but I think the art of getting it 'right' is to make something that maker, sender and recipient ALL like!
    Sometimes no mean feat!

  7. I am with you on this one Chrissie. I have never been a fan of hot pink.
I adore the image on the top card, it's so cute.
My sister and her husband don't like baby pink either so I made a card for their new baby in peach, which I wasn't too keen on. The biggest problem was finding a new baby outfit that wasn't pink or plain white! After much looking I found red and cream which was very cute.
    Have a great weekend.

  8. They're both great cards, but perhaps the hot pink wasn't the best colour choice? Lemon or even pale green or lilac would have also been nice.
