A Masculine Card for "Less is More"

Goodness me, last week was our best yet at "Less is  More". We had 267 entries, which took quite a bit of time to comment on. I think I got round all of them and there were some stunners!
This week our theme is a card for a man.  I wonder why we all seem to find it so difficult?
Here I have used a Stampin' Up image and teamed it with a Pink Petticoat paper, in monochrome chocolate.
I bought this set of Nesties labels recently as I had admired them on someone else's blog. Unlike the squares, circles or ovals, there isn't a large and small set allowing you to have a small increment in size, so I went about finding a creative way of trimming the diecuts in my Cuttlebug. There's a tutorial of how I did this on the "Less is More" blog.
I've also adapted the Spellbinders tags ... I shortened the white sentiment label using the smallest die from the set and then altered the large one in the set to make a mount. There are pics of how I did this also on the challenge blog.
I have since added my son-in-law's name in die-cut letters as it is his birthday this coming week and he does love a good wine.
What would I do without my Cuttlebug? Go out and buy another straight away I think!

  4. What a great card for a man - as you say often difficult to make. Thanks so much for that tip with nesties and I will be trying that instead of drawing round the outside of the die and then cutting with scissors which is what I've done before to get a narrow border for matting.

  10. I love the card - such a simple but effective mans card. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the nesties tutorial! I hate how the gaps in some of the them are so large and I've been drawing a pencil line and cutting by hand! This is so much easier........ what a difference a bit of knowledge makes - my nestie use will be transformed!!!!

  17. "Pink Petticoat" paper on a masculine card??!! Do NOT tell your son-in-law! A perfect card - and thank you for the tutorials on Less Is More - I've always wanted smaller layers on these dies!

  18. I know what you mean about the next die being too large. I have always traced around the die cut that I used and hand cut the larger panel, but I like your way a lot better. It is much more professional looking. Thanks for the tip!

  32. I really love this card Chrissie. It's just fab! The image is great and the charm really sets it off with that ribbon.

Thanks for always making a point of commenting on all our cards...no othe DT seem to spend the time like you and Mandi do and it really makes us all feel like our efforts are appreciated.

My last card with the Kraft card is actually meant to be kind of 'unstuck' from the card blank...it is stuck down, but not at the edges.

Maybe I will try another card later in the week...

  43. Gorgeous cad Chrissy! Love the background paper.

I know why I think it is hard to make a card for a man. I can't find the perfect image. So the perfect solution for me was to not use an image. :)
