I was lucky enough to be chosen as the winner at Time Out Challenge and offered a Guest Spot for one of their challenges... and here I am!

The challenge this time is to be Joyful!

For my card, I inked a piece of glossy photographic paper in various shades of green using alcohol inks  and let it dry. It leaves a beautifully shiny finish with great depth of colour. I used uncoloured glossy photographic paper for the berries and the sentiment. I added a little colour to the tips and stems of the berries using an alcohol marker.
The die set is from Crafter's Companion. I came across some dies from this set at a crafty day in Amesbury and my friend Julia offered to let me borrow hers, but in the end I caved and bought a set for myself. Because of the vibrancy of the greens on the glossy paper, it looks quite dramatic against the black backdrop.
Don't you just hate it when dies go AWOL!
I bought a set with lots of family names... mum, dad, brother, sister etc and used some of them once and thereafter the Dad went walkabout! It could have fallen in the trash I guess, but both me and my husband went through the bins but to no avail.  It could be anywhere... these things often hide in plain sight!
Hey HO!

  1. wow what a dramatic card and just perfect for our challenge. I really like the look of the green on the photo paper-this is a new idea to me...I think I have one piece of this card! And keeping the berries white was a inspired idea. Oh and I am always losing dies and stamps...even have a spotlight to hunt for them and sometimes they are never to be found....don't forget to look under the misti or the guillotine-I found many there! Wonderful to have you as GD and one dramatic card it be GD with a punch!

  2. I love seeing all your cards Chrissie, we seem to have a similar taste. I confess to having 'CASed' more than a few of yours and this will be another I think. I know what you mean about dies, I lost one of a nesting set and found it tidied away into a little used pencil case about three years later. And I thought crafting was supposed to help me keep my marbles active!

  3. Love that you used black as the background for that beautiful branch! So good to see you as guest designer at TIME OUT! Thanks!

  4. Simply Elegant and creative, Chrissie. Congratulations on your Guest Designer honor too. TFS Hugs.Nancy

  5. This is just so gorgeous, Chrissie. I love the spray of pine made with alcohol inks. I have yet to try them. The black base showcases the elements of your card beautifully. I love the little dots on the "J". As I read your post, I am thinking of the dies I am missing from a PTI set - driving me crazy. It is always a joy to see your work, and it's wonderful to have you Guest Designing with us at Time Out!

  6. Such a pretty card. I really love how your colored your die cut leaves, and the black background is so very dramatic. Thanks so much for being our Guest Designer this week at Time Out.

  7. Crisp, fresh and so pretty, Chrissie ... the depth of colour on the leaves is brilliant ... and the sprig and sentiment pop so beautifully against the dramatic black! Thanks so much for inspiring our players as our Guest Designer at Time Out! Anita :)

Thank you so much for popping by, I appreciate your comments!
