This week our challenge at "Less is More" is to use some acetate of some description. Here I have used a piece for the front of my card, attaching it behind a flap which is an extension of the back of the card.
I lined the inner right hand side of the card with some brown card and stamped on the acetate in white Stazon so that the image would show up.
Inside, I stamped the brown card with a larger version of the stamp using deep brown ink, so that it gave the impression of a shadow from the image on the front.
All that was left to do was to add a sentiment which I added in the corner on the front.
The images are a mixed bunch. Although the two flower stamps are identical, apart from their size, one is from Inkylicious and the other from Magenta, at the moment I'm not sure which is which.
The sentiment is from Personal Impressions.
Finally here's another card, using a piece of scrap plastic which I punched with a Tonic butterfly punch, dabbed with alcohol ink, glued and glittered and added a few pearls. It's a simple way to use a little acetate (or like substance) even if you don't have any sheets of it.
The background of this card, uses a Stampin' Up background stamp and the flourish is from Inkylicious.
Do join in our challenge over at "Less is More" we love to see the inventiveness of our participants.
These are beautiful cards, showcasing what you can do with acetate wonderfully! I've never used this before, and I'm a little bit scared lol! xx

ReplyDeleteLove the shadowing effect, a great idea on that dark card, and although I am very much a ribbon girl at heart..this time I prefer it without, the image and details are wonderful on their own. Also love your butterfly card, so beautiful!

ReplyDeleteBoth are gorgeous cards - personally, I like the first one with ribbon rather than without. I think it dresses the spine of the card. My acetate is probably very dusty :-D Lynn x
ReplyDeleteChrissie, your cards are both absolutely stunning. Thank-You for this weeks challenge. Hugs Rita xxx

What a great way to use acetate! I'm going to put my thinking cap on for this challenge, ha ha.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I have the same stamp - by Crazy Stamps - and I've had it for over 10 years. I think mine is smaller than the one on the front of your card. Interesting!
Cheers, Karen

Two lovely and clever cards but personally I prefer the second one.
ReplyDeleteNot really used to acetate and have made a first attempt by using a digi image printed on to acetate 3 hours ago but not dried yet. Back to the drawing board I think.
Never expected acetate at all but can't let the side down will do my best.
Thanks
Kath x
amazing cards!! wish i could do such wonderful things acetate!!
ReplyDeleteI have never stamped on acetate, but that is what challenges are for isn't it. I love the look of your white on brown; simple and elegant.

ReplyDeleteAs I put on Mandi's blog comment . . . I crossed you and Mandi off my Christmas card list . . . but I reinstated you both AFTER I'd FINALLY managed to make a card for the challenge.

Hi Chrissie. Great cards. I love the idea of the shadow stamping on the first card, very effective. Thanks for the challenge, it really gave me the push to have a go at using acetate. Sue.x

ReplyDeleteHugs,

Both lovely cards, I am intrigued by the white stazon ink, it looks great against a dark background. Very slightly prefer the first card without the ribbon. Love the little butterfly too on the other card.
ReplyDeleteI'm in awe at your creativity, these cards are just lovely.
ReplyDeleteAs for this weeks challenge, mmmmm your girls are naughty, lol.
Gorgeous cards Chrissie. I have just bought the Inkylicioius stamp set but haven't had a 'proper' play with it yet. Jo x
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely cards Chrissie. I can't seem to stamp on acetate... well, I can't seem to do much successfully with the stuff lol! Apologies for being such a moaner - I know it's meant to be a challenge, and I do actually like my card now it's done. Won't be in a hurry to repeat it though :o) Lisa x
ReplyDeleteBoth of these cards are gorgeous - and the first looks fab with and without ribbon - but I really love the second one. The layered stamping is beautiful and the acetate butterfly the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comment on my card - I really appreciate it!
Love the stamped image on your first acetate card, very classy.
ReplyDeleteHi Chrissie
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my card. Agree with you the acetate colour doesn't quite match the image colour. Don't have time to try again this week so i shall learn from my mistakes... Loving the feedback so thanks again:-)
Stunning cards but i like the second card with a hint of acetate much better. Fantastic idea of using a shadow though and aren't you lucky to have the same image to do this with.
Loving the challenges, this is a tough one for me but i have tried:-)
Stunning cards. LOVE the shadow effect on the first one - how amazing that you had a slightly larger stamp! It looks really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAcetate is a new medium for me, but I had fun coming up with something - thanks for yout tips about what's available.
Caroline xxx
Fabulous card. I do like black and white and you pulled it off to great effect. I love the combination of all elements used.
ReplyDeletecheers,
Malyn at ThinkInkCreative
How pretty, Chrissie!- and the idea to fix the acetate with a flap was genius! I've been getting frustrated, with computer ink not drying on acetate - even overnight. I wish I had a laser printer - I presume it would dry then. Thanks again for sharing your great ideas x
ReplyDeleteA lovely card, a great idea using the two stamps!
ReplyDeleteChrissie, your beautiful cards make this look so easy. But it's not! Your cards are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteStunning cards again this week Chrissie...love them both!
ReplyDeleteThanks to both you and Mandi for another fab challenge this week!
Have a great day
Take care
San x
Two very classy cards, its so good you encourage your LIMettes to tackle these new ventures, if you hadnt suggested using acetate I probably would never had done it.
ReplyDeleteJose
I love them both! The first one is such an inspiration, as I am not at all confidant about stamping on to acetate. I have just invested in the inkylicious set. couldn't resist!
ReplyDeleteHi Chrissie :)
ReplyDeleteBoth of these cards are gorgeous- think I shall have to get me some alcohol inks (been meaning to for ages and was kicking myself for putting it off when I saw this week's challenge!!lol) and a permanent inkpad so I can try something more interesting with the rest of my acetate!! :) I love the stamp in the first card and the shadow is a great idea- I have it too in a clear set from Inkylicious, think it's probably smaller though :)
Oh, and I like the card with the ribbon but my first idea when you asked was that I might like just a strip not the bow... not sure how you'd fix it neatly then though :)
Thanks for all your encourging comments onmy LIM cards!! :)
hugs, Rachel x
Thanks for commenting on my entry, I love the idea of creating a shadow. Fantastic. x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Chrissie. I particularly love the butterfly
