My Simply Cards and Papercraft mag arrived and I thought that I would try to make some cut files for the foliage stamps.
Today's picture shows part of the process. Since having terrible trouble trying to do this some time ago, I thought I would try again. This time with a little more rapid success. I stamped the branches in black, scanned them then dropped the images into the Silhouette software. Somehow the size had altered along the way so I had to do a bit of jiggery pokery to get it right.
Once sorted, it's easy to cut loads of outlines and then stamp them in a stamping platform, using the same aperture to stamp each one in turn, so not having to reposition the stamp for each impression.
I used a couple of shades of ink... SU Lucky Limeade as a base layer then some Forest DI for the tips of the leaves.
The finished stamped leaves are on the left and the one in the platform is after one stamping.
It would be a whole lot of work to have to cut out these fiddly leaves by hand!

Not seen a silhouette, or even heard of one... so the description left me thoroughly middle-muddled... teehee... not difficult these days!! Must investigate!

I have no idea about the silhouette, i'm a simple stamp and hand cut girl with die cutting inbetween but I can understand about cutting out multiples it takes up so much of our time. I love the foliage image a very useful design. Hope you share what becomes of them. Happy WoywW Tracey #11

ReplyDeleteI love those leaves - you can't have too many leaf stamps in my opinion! Handy machine for cutting out loads of the same but it always sounds so complicated to use so I'll stick to my old fashioned dies!!

I must admit that I like the direct cut feature on my Scan N Cut and often use it when I don't fancy fussy cutting Chrissie. I do love those leaves though. well worth your efforts. Stay safe. Sarah #3
ReplyDeleteWell, great way to mass produce Chrissie - I dont expect you then put all the leaves somewhere ‘safe’ and forget all about them do you? I scanned a load of images to convert to cut file, was distracted for days and then completely forgot about them. When I went too cut something else, surprise! A whole bunch of stiff waiting for the jiggery pokery! It’s a nice leaf, bet you come up with some fab uses.

ReplyDeleteThose machines are $399 or four hundred here in and that’s way too much but it would be fun to do that at a whim. But fussy cutting is way cheaper. Do love your leaves.

ReplyDeleteI have a Silhouette Cameo. I don't always use it, but when the designs go half price it is much cheaper than buying all the dies. I use it to make cards, but also for cutting designs to iron on t-shirts for my grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteI thought about buying a silhouette years ago but skipped the idea, just too much 'machines' in the house and I have so many tools already - seeing your post I get tempted again... grrr... we'll see.
