WOYWW #594

Good morning all!
This morning my desk shows the detritus from yesterday's card which was of a Christmas sweater.
I have had a die for ages but it was a case of another NBUS. I was wondering how the sweater would be decorated when I came across the tiny EF from Sizzix which looked a bit like plaid, so I inked inside it and took an embossed print. I then realised of course that the embossing would disappear if I then decided to die cut it, so I did it again the other way round and die cut the sweater before putting that through the embossing folder. If you can't quite see the finished card on the edge of the picture, this is it.

FOr those of you who visited last week... thanks for those visits, here is the card I made with the leaves which I stamped and cut with my Silhouette Portrait... or should I say cut, then stamped!

I'm a bit like a squirrel i guess when it comes to crafting supplies and I don't even like to throw tiny scraps away. These drawers house my off cuts of card, in colour themes.  I began with a letter file, which quickly became full to bursting, then moved on to a small set of drawers and now it's these!
Scraps of smooshed, printed, stamped or any other technique I've tried, go in these drawers and come out when the inspiration descends!
Well have a good day everyone, and I'll try to get around a few more desks this week!
You can join in the fun by heading over to Julia's, the Queen of WOYWW!

  1. Happy WOYWW. I absolutely adore that sweater card. Just my sort of style. I bought the very same set of drawers earlier this year. I am slowly filling the drawers with paper/card, plus the top drawer is for my completed Christmas cards. Currently my paper/card is mostly still in a big chest of drawers and it is so difficult to find what I need. Having it all separated out will be fantastic. Ali x #7

  2. Hi Chrissie - what delightful little cards! That jumper looks so cute! You know I have the exact same drawer unit and I just love it - I could do with another few if I had enough space for them - I tend to keep all sorts of scraps too but only in random boxes and piles on the floor! I've answered your questions on my blog about the gelli prints in case other people were wondering. Thanks so much for your visit! Happy crafting! xx zsuzsa #13

  3. That’s just lovely Chrissie, you really are a master at the understated. And look at you, still with space on that glass mat at the end of a session, very impressive. You have a serious ‘scrap tower’ going on there, I think it’s probably the best storage solution but oh my, it would accuse me every time I walked into the room. I think because mine is on show, I’m ashamed of it and do all I can to keep it down. well, I like to tell myself that!

  4. That sweater card is such fun and perfect for someone who perhaps doesn't celebrate Christmas. I do like the simple designs best, I don't do fussy!

  5. Hi Chrissie. I love that sweater card. It's just great. Like the leaves as well. They sit beautifully on their card. Sorry - but I had to chuckle when I saw your fantastic set of drawers. I have often been tempted by those myself - the trouble is, I know I would fill them... probably, like you, with scraps and snippets, all sorted by colour.... I do like just a little bit of organisation in my space:-)!!!
    Take care. God bless.

  6. Well Chrissie, when it comes to snippets pile I do think you must hold the playground record. I’ve mine in two smaller drawers for coloured, a small box fir white and very small amount if black not sure why but use black most.
Love your two cards, both of them exquisite in texture, design and colours.

You asked re Oxides. Yes I recommend them, however I’ve no intentions of getting more have about ten in all. They blend more easily but not better than DI.
I interchange colours as needed from DI eg in sky used blues but needed deep blue and just used DI chipped Sapphire and worked as blend in with oxides no difference in blend. Use foam pad round ones and wash them each time use and dry out don’t have lots so just use in colour family.
My advice is chose your favourite colours. They’re opaque not translucent like DI and you may stamp and heat emboss with them too so that’s a plus.
If they go chalky I just spray with my hairspray I use on my hair and also to seal PanPastels. It makes colour pop. They do work well with stencils. My problem with ones I made which I didn’t like I was too heavy handed in colouring some folks like that but I don’t.

Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

  7. Hi Chrissie, the sweater card is fab, came out perfectly. I managed eventually to get my scraps & offcuts down to a manageable amount, it had got quite ridiculous, but nowhere near as many as you have! Seeing Shaz's comment on Oxides, I too have a few, bought mainly because you can use them on black/dark cardstock, and still get the colour, so I'm only buying colours that appeal to me for that reason, even though they work brilliantly for blending on any colour cardstock. Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #4 X

  8. Your cards are both beautiful - classy and professional looking. The sweater is so cute and very clever to use the EF and ink like that.
Hope you have a great week,

  12. I have drawers of scrap paper too! Every once in awhile I take a drawer and die cut a bunch of shapes to lower the stash. Your idea to use the EF for the sweater was very clever and turned out great! I like your leaf die cuts with berries, and the twine adds movement to finish off the card very nicely. Enjoy your week ~ Love, Karen#40

  18. Hi, good to be back in the saddle post-op, didn't think it would take me 2 months to get back to crafting, although I haven't been just sitting around, just doing other things...

Super little sweater, love what you have done with it.
The rainbow drawers are awesome, if only I had room..........

    Thanks for the visit BJ#26

  19. Oh btw, the shoulder surgery was quite debilitating initially (days/weeks) but now I have 90-95% range of movement which was severely limited before. Such things as dressing, putting my hair up and reaching for things are possible now, YAY.

  22. Hi Chrissie, sorry for the late visit, I have bloggy gremlins! Love your sweater card, worked out perfectly - I've done that thing where you end up flattening the embossing when you die cut it. The inked embossing looks fab. Have a great week. Annie C #23

  23. Hi Chrissie, sorry I'm so late t'internet has been playing up here - think it's all the rain!! I love your little jumper with the embossed pattern - it looks like cable! My daughter just had a cable design done on her nails - it looks amazing heaven knows how they did it. I bought that magazine after falling inlove with that leaf. I have stamped and cut a few out using my Scan n cut (yay!) but I haven't made any cards yet. Back to Christmas from 1st Nov, I have a few other bits to get through before then. Stay well, stay safe, Cindy #25
