Trees

This card is one of those rescue jobs.
All had gone well until I added the sentiment (it originally started out as a one layer card), and then oops! the sentiment didn't look straight, despite using my stamp positioner! So I made another on the computer and cut it out with a Spellbinder's Tag.
I've made lots of cards using this technique, whereby I masked the card front with post-its and sponged the colours for the background in the gap. I use Mellow Moss, Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue applied with sponge daubers.
The trees are from a Kodomo stamp, using Olive Green Stazon.
Sometimes I don't feel too happy with the sponging, (not in this case in fact) but often after the images have been applied over the top the sponging looks fine!

  4. Hi Chrissie, fabulous card, I love the colours that you used on the background and great stamping. I have the same problem lining up, it always goes wrong just at the end when you've been so careful, c'est la vie! :0) xxx

  7. I really like the sentiment being up a layer I think it adds a classy touch from the spellbinders shape. The sponged background is beautiful.

  8. How many times have I done that! In my case it's usually an ink splodge due to inky fingers.
Great sponging makes this a really pretty and elegant card.

  12. I really like this card Chrissie, the background strip looks just like a Turner watercolour background must see if I can do it. I know what you mean about stamping sentiments straight onto the card I've had similar problems myself.

  13. well rescued! I'm going to have to try daubing the ink on as I usually brayer mine and I'd like to compare the two techniques side by side, might be a little something to try over the weekend!

the colours you've chosen work so well together here

  14. perfect save - i've got the card from SLiM challenge week 6 where i had ink on the sentiment (if it wasn't you who noticed, it was Mandi), which needs saving, and now i have the way to do that without overpowering the image. i knew it just needed a layered sentiment, but i didn't think of doing it with the same card stock, such a simple solution. :)

  15. Lovely card Chrissie, I really love the sponged background as a contrast to the stamped trees. I prefer the message on the tag...I'm trying to get hold of that set but I think it's been discontinued :(

  16. I have trouble getting the sentiment straight with the positioner. It seems that I have a 50-50 chance of getting it straight no matter what I do. I like the tag though as well as the sponging.
