Making this kind of card is a little bit outside my comfort zone, but when I saw the challenge from Sophisticats today, I remembered that I had this stamp which was a freebie from Craft Stamper Magazine. Until now it has remained unused in its little packet, but the joy of challenges is simply that... to challenge you, to stretch you into making things that otherwise would have remained untried.I don't actually know what the characters on this stamp mean, if anyone can translate, I would be delighted to know what it says.
I decided to use the colour choice form Colour Create this week which is Red, Black and Off White... I used ivory.
The fancy border is from a Cuttlebug die, which because of its Curls and Swirls, makes it eligible for the challenge from Tuesday Taggers this week. They have a challenge sponsored by Crafty Individuals who supply fabulous crafty items and are giving a fabby prize, so why not check them out!

Chrissie - lovely oriental card - I think the wording says - crispy seaweed with soy sauce, forget the chopsticks, I want a knife and fork. But I could be wrong!!!

ReplyDeleteSorry to disappoint you but it is the collective opinion of 2 Japanese, 1 Taiwanese and 2 Chinese colleagues that your Oriental symbols are meaningless!! Just artistic/stylised versions of Chinese characters. It's definitely not Japanese, even though the lady is! The top character is quite close to the Chinese word for "dew" as in morning dew, but that's all! The rest just look pretty!!

It involved something similiar to knights, or warriors, and trying to form them into complicated groups in order to win. I sort of remember it being an oriental theme, but I'm really clueless.
