Good morning all!
Last Wednesday somehow escaped me and it was Thursday before I realised that I had missed WOYWW! Brain cells are not what they once were!
Hey Ho! Anyway this is how my desk looks today after playing around with some watercolours. I thought I'd try my hand at painting a wreath, but I think I need a few more views of tutorials on You Tube! I also started to try to hand paint in some of the leaves on a new die I just got from SSS. Not sure how that one will go forward but we'll see!
I have attended watercolour classes on board Cunard ships. They are held on sea days and are a perfect way to spend a morning! I loved the last one we went on and as it was from Japan to Vancouver... there were quite a few sea days! The teacher was really helpful and I met some really great, like minded people. One such was a lovely lady with whom we shared our dining table. She was telling me all about her Jack Russell dog of whom she was immensely fond as she lived alone. I thought I would have a go at painting a picture of him and this was my attempt. Couldn't manage the whole body so just did the head!
I have finally caved and bought some Distress Oxide inks... now I wonder why I resisted for so long, I really like them. I dabbed a little onto my glass mat to use as a palette, I think they work really well in so many ways. All I need to do now is to build up my range of colours and find somewhere to store them!
Have a good day everyone and stay safe.
WHy not join in the fun and share how your craft space looks with Julia and the rest of the WOYYWers in her Stamping Ground!
Glad you enjoy your Oxides, they are fab!! the painting of the jack russell is great, and the wreaths look pretty good to me. Happy WOYWW Helen #1
ReplyDeleteAw, cute portrait of the JR, your cruising friend was probably very chuffed at your choice of subject. I like that wreath die I must say, even though I am sworn off new dies for a while, so don’t be too tempting. I laughed at your comment about balancing the phone to get a decent camera image for recording..it sounds very familiar!
ReplyDeleteI bought some distress inks a few weeks back, it's a must have! Love the picture you've done of the little dog, it's really good and I'm sure the lady will love it. I love that die too! I'm just becoming a little bit, whats the word? (A word I can spell?) Needy for more! My old Bigshot wouldn't cut the thin ones, even if I added extra card, but The BigShot plus, cuts every thing! I've seen some lovely cards (since I've come back into crafting) so many crafters are using all kinds of dies and their work looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Stay safe and Happy WOYWW ((Lyn)) #12
Your watercolour painting is wonderful - I couldn't do anything like that! It sounds idyllic sailing through the seas and taking art classes! I guess, Covid put an end to that for a while. I only have a few Distress Oxides - haven't used them in a while but I used to love them. Time to get them out again! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #20
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet watercolouring. I always pop back on a Thursday to make sure there aren't any late comers so don't worry if you forget in future just link in you'll not be the first or the last Lol! I am obsessed with the Oxide inks they move on the paper so smoothly and as I like to make Masterboards on A3 card they are a god send to getting colour on quickly. Sending woyww hugs, Angela x14x
ReplyDeleteWow, that painting is impressive. I think animals and birds are so difficult to portray.
ReplyDeleteI like Oxides for the fact that they stamp so clearly unlike the Distress Inks that tend to blur in stamping images. Good versatile ins - great on black too.
Hugs, Neet 10 xx
Happy WOYWW. Your wreath so far looks fantastic. I keep thinking about some possible Christmas cards - including watercolour - but never have the spare time in the day to get the paints out (I only really have Sundays to do personal crafting). I might use some watercolour brushes on my iPad and see if I can get any festive designs done. Of course I love the Jack Russell, and given me inspiration to try doing a painting of Buzz (who we lost in September). Thank you for sharing. Ali x #25
ReplyDeleteI think you’ve caught the little dog perfectly! I loved watercolour painting and hardly do any these days, that has to be rectified! The wreath looks fab, I do love that image....it looks very elegant.

The wreaths are lovely, and the little Jack Russell painting is gorgeous. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#13)
ReplyDeleteChrissie, I THINK your wreaths and leaves are GREAT!! I have been thinking of doing the very same thing. I have not, on the other hand, had any courses and its VERY apparent when I go to do something, but you know what? It's all in fun and what the hay, right? Your dog is fabulous! We have had several Jack Russell's, they really are precious dogs and have loved them all! Your dog reminds me of one of ours that was called Chalupa! We let one of the fellas that worked in our business name him. He was from Mexico and that was the first thing that came to mind and it stuck!!! LOL So, so pretty...you keep at it, I think your are doing great! Blessings, Felicia #32
ReplyDeleteGreat photos on your post! Watercoloring is fun but I definitely could use a course or two. LOL. The cruise sounds wonderful. Have a great week. Dorlene #31

ReplyDeleteTake care and stay safe, Lilian B # 15
Your Jack Russell watercolour is charming, Chrissie - an adorable subject! I am so glad you are enjoying your first adventure in Distress Oxides. They are awesome, aren't they. I've got quite a good range of colours and probably don't need to buy any more now all the main colour groups are covered. They are very versatile and I love the velvety finish of them. Thank you for your visit and your kind words about my embroidery! Much appreciated. Also the kitties! We've had so many over the years and each one has had her own funny little personality. I must dig out some old photos (pre-digital era) and scan them, and complete my kitty family history!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW,

Beautiful watercolour dog! An I like your wreath as well. I certainly can empathize with forgetting what day it! I have to tell my self very firmly in the morning the name of the day so I will remember! I store my distress Inks in plastic trays that used to be 3-D photo frames. So they are essentially flat with a lip all around. I have a lot of them because I used to store my stamps in them. Sorry I'm so late! My computer was acting up, today she seems to be OK. Stay Safe, Lindart #29
ReplyDeleteFabulous headshot!
ReplyDeleteI am just wondering whether I should invest in the new colour of DO...
Sorry I am late again...
Happy WOYWW!
