WOYWW 87

You may well wonder what a picture of a chest of drawers is doing here!
I am still in Bath.
We are still awaiting the arrival of my second grandchild!
Yesterday my daughter and I spent much of the day wandering around Ikea in Bristol looking at furniture. She has been trying to persuade me to get rid of the bed in my craft room and get it properly kitted out as a functional crafting space. This chest of drawers and some others similar, are part of the plan.  I shall have to measure up properly but I have great ideas. Of course re-decoration and new flooring will have to come first, and I think I will have to try to find someone to do the home-assembly, I hate it and my husband is all thumbs!
We did buy a tall chair for Daisy, it looks like a miniature bar stool, and she loves it. She can sit at the table with us and reach perfectly! She looks so grown up at two!
I am missing crafting and hope this baby turns up very soon!
Here's a picture of a card from my folder which I made before I left home!

I was just experimenting really.. I'd like to be experimenting again... soon!
Hop over to Julia's and see what others around the world have on their desks... or like me, just what they have been up to this week.

  3. I looked for your name and when I didn't see it, I got excited. Then I saw it and got even more excited. Looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer. And your daughter is right. If you need craft storage, lose the bed and get the remodel going. We'll see who gets theirs finished first. The rate my basement mess is going, my money would be on YOU!! (I'm #8 which rhymes with WAIT)

  4. Ha, ha the baby is very comfortable and doesn't want to come out! Who would in this cold weather??? May I suggest you get the same chest of drawers from Ikea but on wheels - I have one and it sometimes comes in very handy to be able to move the thing around!
All the best to the soon to be 2nd time mom!
    Hugs,

  14. Congratulations on grandbaby #2, Chrissie! I wish I were in Bath...assuming the weather there is better than here right now. Today is groundhog day and I really hope he sees his shadow :) We have missed a lot of school the past 3 weeks due to ice and snow. It hasn't been record breaking like last year, but I am ready for spring!

I can't wait to see your new craft space. Yes, start with the floors. I just had my new floors installed last month. I love them :)

  16. Hi Chrissie
Maybe your D.I.L needs a good hot curry, it worked for my daughter when she was overdue!
I have the tall version of this unit and am hoping my lovely, gorgeous hubby will let me buy the small one that is suitable for storing my 12" paper pads and larger papers.
Will keep fingers crossed that baby arrives soon, and that you can play with paper again. Love Sheila x

  17. I need to go to IKEA in Britol but last time I went there in the xmas break, we got stuck in the warehouse as someone had a heart attack and I could see them doing CPR poor thing. Didn't buy anything in the end as didn't really feel like shopping in the end. Hope the new baby arrives soon. Hugs Pam x

  22. Hello Chrissie, I'm with your daughter on this one - who needs a guestroom anyway :) Babies have a way of coming along in their own sweet time but it shouldn't be too long now. I really like your card - clean and simple but very pretty. Elizabeth x #96

  23. I wonder whether a "nesting" visit to Ikea might have helped the baba along?... And I'd go with more crafty space in the spare room; if you have crafty visitors, they can have an even more fun time when they come to stay!

  24. Hope you don't have to wait too long now. Keep making notes on everything you want to do once you can get back to crafting!

  25. Ah yes, Ikea and crafters were definitely made for each other. Good luck with the baby, obviously thinks it's better off where it's at! Hope all goes well and you're back home again soon.

  27. Your poor daughter! I can remember at this point wishing it was all over with. Couldn't tie my shoes, always turning on the stove with my belly! I like the shelving/drawer unit from IKEA! Great idea.

  31. IKEA do a chest of drawers with shallow, wide drawers that take 1 x 12x12 and 1 x A4 paper. I love mine but how come it somehow filled up overnight when it was meant to solve the storage problem, not increase it?!
    Good luck with Baby wait!

  33. Loving the shelving stack, I do like things though, that you can see into, clear stuff. I keep changing things about, and forget what's in them! Hope baby is soon here!! Happy WOYWW!

  34. OOOO! Love the chest!
My second kiddo was a week late. In late summer. By then I had quit saying "the baby" and started saying "I just want IT out now!" LOL! I was miserable, to say the least! Hopefully, your daughter is hanging in there!

  35. Keep a notebook for your ideas! Time goes slowly when you are waiting and there's no crafting to be done. Great storage. TFS!

  38. Oh Chrissie

To have that room kitted out properly would be brilliant. Just think what you could create in a purpose made room? From a personal point of view - you cannot have enough storage - i.e. drawers. I have a few but its not enough I wish I had more surface area - but I won't give up my sofa in here just for extra surface. I'd rather take my stuff 5 feet to the left of me and use the kitchen table. Hope your space works out soon.

Does that grandchild happen to be a boy by any chance - lazy and knows where its nice and warm???

Love the card - another one of those clever techniques you've clearly mastered!!
