WOYWW 596

Good morning all!
Today I have a cry for help!
For quite some time I have been using a program called iPiccy to edit my photographs and add watermarks to pictures of my cards.  The problem I have is that this software needs Flash player to work! This (Flash) is reaching the end of its life on December 31st apparently. SO.... I am looking for an idiot proof, simple, straightforward, easy peasy program to do the job which iPiccy has been doing for me for the last I don't know how long.
All suggestions would be great appreciated. I have had a look online at various ones but they all seem SO complicated that I can't fathom out how to use them.
Today's picture is of my printer... someone asked about a printer which could print card. I have to admit that when I bought this one I didn't find many which would do it. This particular one has two ways of feeding in the paper. There is a cassette at the bottom and also a slot at the back,  the latter of which is where I load my card from as you can see. From this position the card doesn't have to bend back on itself as the paper does from the the cassette.
There are quite a few cards sitting on the top of the printer waiting for homes as are the ones in the box in the stack just to the right. I sent my box of cards which I would normally take to my choir to sell, (not happening because of Covid 19) down to my son for his wife and her family so rummage through and take what they would like. I need to get rid of them somehow!
For those with a curious nature, do pop over to see Julia Queen of WOYWW at her Stamping Ground where she will allow you to link up with crafters from all over the world for a snoop at their crafting spaces!
Have a good day everyone and stay safe!

  1. I can’t help you with your tech problem, so sorry - am sure Shaz Silverwolf or her hubby might have some suggestions though. I print from the rear tray quite a bit as well, especially on photo paper, it seems to smudge less. Good luck finding an alternative!

  2. Hi Chrissie, lolling at LLJ's comment, but I will ask Hubby if he can make any recommendations for you, and get back to you if he has any. As the tech guru here, he's used to my calls of ' Doug, I/ a friend has a problem,'lol. We used to have a printer that had a cassette and rear feed, but our current Epson only has rear feed, but to be fair, I rarely print on card these days. Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #4 X

  3. Have you looked at Photoshop ELEMENTS for editing your photos? I've used it for like...forever! Very reasonable and has guided editing till you feel more comfortable with the program. HIGHLY recommended.

  4. Chrissie, I wish I could be of some help....I AM NOT tech savvy at ALL!!! I still use my phone for pix and they do in a pinch! One day, I'll get with the program! LOL Good luck! Blessings, Felicia #28

  5. You got me thinking that I should add watermark to my pics. I played with my Silhouette and the free Microsoft Photos to create one. Let me know what you think? papercrafter.blog

  6. Hi there Chrissie - hope Doug comes up with something to help - me, not so techy savvy!! So irritating isn't it when technology keeps relentlessly moving on - I just have no patience with being forced to learn new things when what I had was working perfectly well. Updated my phone last night and now its moved everything around ..grrrrrr. I managed to shift some of my cards with my Macmillan sale but I still have a huge number - and I'm not going to stop any time soon!! Stay well, stay safe, Cindyxx #16

  7. Sorry can't help with the tech problem Chrissie. I am unhappy that flash is ending because so many of the PPTs that I use at work have embedded flash objects and they no longer work. I have found a way to get them to work at home, but they can't replicate it at work which is really frustrating. Hope you find a solution to your problem. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #1

  9. I absolutely cannot help Chrissie, I’m sorry to say. Pretty sure someone will though, if not here then on Facebook. The demise of Flash must be affecting a huge number of people after all! Hey, that printer looks very good, the single card feed is a real bonus....but the biggest plus that Canon didn’t intend...a whole flat surface for storing and drying!!

  10. I'm sorry Chrissie, I have no clue! I love the looks of your cards on the printer. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#13)

  11. Hi Chrissie, I use Picasa 3 to edit my photographs. It's a free program but does the job and it's easy to use. I use Paint Shop Pro with my Watermark which I think was bought out by Photoshop. Stay safe and have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x18x

  12. Hi Christie, I’ve enjoyed catching up on your blog, don’t think I’ve visited for a while, but loving your cards, and some of your comments made me smile, like bits in slippers...me too! I use Canva, free and fairly simple. I also sometimes just use “paint” to resize, crop and add add text. I’m not the best at technology! Xxx

  13. Check out https://www.watermark.ws/ I use just the free version and it's fairly simple to work with.

  14. I use Serif PhotoPlus (the forerunner of Affinity Photo which I also have but don't like so much) to edit my photos. I've never used a watermark so wouldn't know how to use that. Some people use Gimp for photo editing - this is a free, open-source program you can download. I used it for a while. Hope you manage to find a solution to your problem, anyway.

    Happy WOYWW,

  15. I must admit to fitting my poor printer any thickness of paper/card but what a pain for the program to come to an end. . I used to just put my cards pictures in Paintnet to add a watermark, it's free, or it was...haven't added any water makes since I've been back...forgotten how to do them! I've also got Gimp. Stay safe, Happy WOYWW

  16. Computer problems are so awful! I’m sorry I can’t help you or at least I don’t think so since I am not the sharpest tack when it comes to technical stuff. LOL. What a great printer. My daughter just purchased one that prints photos. We think it will save money in the long run. We’ll see. Dorlene #32

  17. Talking of printers- I too load my card from the back tray and it works fine. Few printers actually specify card - but my old one that I had in the UK just used to take it perfectly well. I think a lot of it is trial - and freeing card blockages!
    Stay safe and keep well...
    Happy WOYWW!

  18. You never can tell. It wasn’t publishing now test did. Happy belated WOYWW Chrissie.
I don’t watermark anymore, as I’m not on computer. I use mobile devices. If I want to add writing I use a simple app callled Phonto.
Just add bible verses to my own images with it all the time.
Most photo editing apps eg my “Gallery” on Samsung mobile also add texts I have added my website ID that way but am a lazy blogger these days.
    That may help.
If you want to overlay a watermark I used to use Gimp which I don’t think would require a flash player so that may help.
    Thanks
for being a blessing, and may God bless you too, especially in these unusual times, a blessing to rest simply in Him! Praying you’re all kept well too!

  19. Really sorry i'm the last person to ask during a tech crisis, my mind turns to jelly when anything like this goes wrong but I thought of Shaz's Doug straight away. I hope the issue can soon be sorted & you can carry on crafting those important watermarks. Stay safe Tracey #10

  21. Hi Christine, sorry, I can't help with the tech issues. Working from home due to Covid has meant my usual source of card sales has disappeared- sad really as I used to donate the income to the monthly charity we were supporting. My boxes are ready to explode at the moment! Thanks for stopping by earlier- I have had a few oops moments over the 5 years I have been crafting, and yes - a flower, sentiment, butterfly can hide all manner of oopsies! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #8

  22. Sorry, no help from me either - I just feed card through regardless - and it takes it up to 300gsm but no watermarks although at one time I did want to use them now I give up on what `I produce.
Good luck - hope you get andswers.

  23. Thanks for your return visit, Chrissie - computers are weird, aren't they! I hope you manage to stop yours from relegating my comments into your junk folder! I am having problems with mine blocking comments as spam when they're not, which must be very frustrating for my commenters. I need to try and keep on top of it but Wordpress isn't that user friendly I'm afraid. You were the second person to mention Paul McKenna and the chewing! I'm glad you like my tunic. It's one of my favourite things!

  24. Hi Chrissie, I think there are several programs where you upload your photograph and work on it. I haven’t used any so I can’t recommend one. I do love Photoshop Elements though. The trouble with any programme is having to learn it and it is so annoying to have your trusted one no longer available. I hope you find something else without too much trouble. Google is a great help for searching out programmes. Angela #20

  25. Hello Chrissie, my hubby is now saying words to me that I think may be about printers but he could also be speaking in tongues..... what is it with men and their gadgets. Apparently we use Lightroom, by subscription. Another one that he nearly bought is Serif Affinity, sometimes it is on sale quite cheap.
Here’s hoping iPiccy carries on into 2021.
Take care with love and hugs, Sue #26 xx

  26. I have a similar Canon printer but I take pictures of my cards, scan them to my computer, and add my name using my using my PhotoShop program. I hope you find what you need. Thanks for stopping by, I'm still working my way around. Have a great weekend!

  27. Never hear of iPiccy but looked it up out of curiosity. It says there "You are using Chrome 76 (or higher) which blocks Flash by default and it requires two steps to run iPiccy.(We'll fix that on upcoming HTML5 version release) - this could mean that it will be updated and you can continue to use it! I use an old version of Photoshop to edit photos, but it was a steep learning curve! Love the cards on top of your printer (from what I can see - the gnome one looks cute! Thanks so much for your visit - I could have sworn I have left a comment on your post but looks like I haven't! Enjoy your weekend - I've just emerged from a nice lie-in! zsuzsa # 19
