A friend of mine received a shawl which was termed a 'prayer shawl' as the person who had made it for her had spent time praying for the recovery of my friend as she was knitting it!
It was loved so much that she in turn wanted to make a similar garment for another person in need of a little TLC.
She asked me to make a card to accompany it with a reference to the colours she had used, hence the purple shades.
The inside is printed with special wording explaining the ethos behind the gift of the shawl.
It uses a very favourite sketch of mine which this week is featured at CAS Colours and Sketches
My week with my grandchildren is nearly completed, today Daisy hasn't been feeling on top of the world, so I hope she will be feeling better tomorrow otherwise it will be a duvet day for her!
so pretty Chrissie - my parish has a group of knitters who make prayer shawls for those who need special prayers for recovery and the like - if my knitting weren't so bad i'd join them - maybe i'll ask if they need a card to go with the shawls - wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty Chrissie, what a lovely gesture too with the prayer shawls, Cathy x

We have a prayer shawl group at our church and have given away so many to those in need of comfort, prayers and the assurance of God's love.

ReplyDeleteChrissie, your card is fabulous! The embossing is a brilliant way to keep the white-on-white look but differentiate the square from the card base. The butterfly is simply gorgeous. It's great to see you playing along with us at CC&S - thanks for making our challenge part of your crafting fun! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, perfect take on the sketch. Thanks for joining in at CC&S
