Did you miss me last week?My daughter and granddaughter were here and potty training had begun, so we were kinda busy!
They stayed for a week and a little progress was made each day, not that my daughter could see it, but Granny knew best!
Back at home, Daisy went to Nursery yesterday and came home in the SAME TROUSERS that she went in! Whoo Hoo! She asked for her potty each time she needed it and stayed dry!
Now on to other things.
My desk has been a total shambles and I couldn't stand it any more, but having tidied, I didn't have anything to show! So I thought that that I would address a question that I have been asked several times about the method I use for positioning wooden stamps exactly where I need them, either directly onto a card or within a frame as in the case of the card with the ribbon in this pic.
I need a piece of acetate with a right angle corner (I used the corner from a Spellbinders package
Some Lego to make into a right angle shape.
Stamps and ink.
- Firstly I stamped the frame onto some card.
- Next I placed the acetate, snugly into the right angle of the Lego.
- Then I stamped the sentiment image onto the acetate, guided by the Lego, making sure it is held snugly in the corner.
- The next step is to place the acetate over the printed frame so that the sentiment is centred.
- Then, keeping the acetate really still, slide the Lego back into position around the corner of it.
- Remove the acetate and once more using the Lego as a guide, stamp the sentiment onto the card.
'Stampamajig' is the Stampin' Up name for their stamp positioner, but my Lego works just as well.
Finally, I thought I would show you a bunch of cards I made for a friend of mine who is a travel agent and likes to send Welcome Home cards to her clients on their return from their very swish holidays.Blogger has driven me nuts this morning, I've had to try to upload each picture about 4 times each before they actually appeared on my blog. I didn't mean to make the last pic so large, but after I'd pressed the button, I couldn't risk not having it load.

First of all thank you for sharing the "positioning" - one can see you were a teacher very good instructions! I had the same problem with blogger today - that is why I posted so late - it was a nightmare!!!

I love the way you use what you have and the legos are great. Beats my old T-square by a mile. Super tutorial and, as always, fun to come for a visit. I hate to admit it, but I really like your desk this way (grin from the neat freak). Have a great WOYWW and congrats on that potty training, too.

Great tutorial Chrissie, I usually just try and line stuff up by eye, which doesn't always work out the best I have to admit! That trimmer is a Fiskars rotary trimmer. Don't know why it's so expensive on their website, most craft stores stock it for around $40 and my husband picked it up in Costco a couple of years ago for $30 and gave it to my for Christmas. It's a super bit of kit, I will have had it two years this Christmas and I haven't changed the blade yet! That's some going!

Well... you clever old thing, I would never have come up with a Lego solution but its perfect! And being nice and chunky and bright coloured you certainly won't lose it on your desk!!

I am so late this week - I started visiting form the other end of the list to make sure of equality!! Love your tutorial - I have a corner made by Mr D, but other wise, like you, I use a good piece of whatever is around as the acetate! It's a simple procedure, once you've got the hang - I often demonstrate it and then watch with a smile while others try ot figure it out again!

ReplyDeleteChrissie - give me unmounted clear stamps every time... infact, my stamps I got from Stampin Up = i've refused to mount - I gave my mum the wooden blocks - but goodness knows what she's going to do with them!!!
