Smitten by bears!

Yet another bear image from Pollycrafts, this time for the challenges from Paperplay, with Pink , White and Green and also for the theme Flutterby from the challenge at Quixotic.

I coloured Baxter with my Copics and used a background paper from Forever Friends. The sentiment and the embossing are from Cuttlebug and the punchies are by X Cut. I added a couple of adhesive pearls and some Liquid Pearls to the dragonfly and a little Glamour Dust to its wings and also to the butterflies. I'm not normally a 'green' person, but I find this shade particularly pleasing! Sadly I could find only one sheet of the plain one, I think another trip to the Paper Mill Shop may be on the cards!

Friday Sketchers - Bah Humbug - Totally Papercrafts

Here are Bronson and Beaker from Pollycrafts, yet another bear and his pal and this time I used the Sketch from Friday Sketchers, with the theme of Baubles from Bah! Humbug! and Friends from Totally Papercrafts.

The image was coloured with my beloved Copics with a little Glamour Dust added for the glistening snow and twinkling baubles. The border punch is from Martha Stewart and the embossing is Cuttlebug. The stars making up the background are from the waste of the punching.

One Stop Crafts - Make it Personal

This is my DT card for this week's challenge at One Stop Crafts... I can't believe that I forgot to post this yesterday, I really must be getting old! Even when I had a kind comment about it on another of my cards I didn't put 2 and 2 together . Hey Ho!

Anyway, this was for a friend of mine who celebrated her birthday this last week.

The paper is from the Papermania Capsule range. The image was stamped with timber brown Stazon; does anyone know where I can find a re-inker for my pad?

The name was diecut using my Cuttlebug Typewriter alphabet. I always add some double sided adhesive sheet to the back of my card before running it through the Cuttlebug, so that once cut, all I have to do it peel and stick!

The ribbon was adorned with a Papermania brad from the Make your own kit. It took me a while to get around to buy it, but now I'm hooked and love the effects which can be achieved.

Another gorgeous bear!

This sweetie of a bear is another from Pollycraft, which I downloaded yesterday. I just love them. This one is in gentle shades utilising the colours from the Copic Colour Challenge #49 of E00 Skin White, E33 Sand and R02 Flesh. It is also for Creative Inspiration's Challenge of 'Feminine' and Cute Card Thursday's 'Blooming Gorgeous'

Over at the Alphabet Challenge Blog they have got up to the letter N for New... thesebears are my new downloads!

The inspiration for this one started with the piece of lace and kind of took off! The flowers are Prima with Leonie Em punched leaves. I just punched little splats for the centres of the flowers and added a few sticky pearls.

I just delivered my latest Wedding invitations to a satisfied customer, so that makes me happy too!

Don't you just love this bear!

I bought this image yesterday from Pollycraft and just love him! I can see him being useful for lots of different occasions, but here I decided on a get well card. I am entering it for the challenge at Moving Along with the Times which is a blog that I have just discovered!

The requirements are at least 3 Eyelets, 3 Flowers and some ribbon.

For Dutch Dare's Challenge this week there has to be the element of summer in winter and I think that this card looks quite summery, well, Springlike anyway!

I love this image from Pollycraft which I bought yesterday. There are a whole bunch of bears in the series and they're all delightful!

I think that the tendency these days is to put everything but the kitchen sink onto cards and I had to resist the temptation to put on more, as I actually think that this works really well with lots of white space!

I coloured him with my Copics and made the sentiment on the computer, using Wordart and the free download font called Cool Dots, which I then mounted on Nesties.

I broke a bridge this morning whilst cleaning my teeth, but fortunately the dentist had an early appointment free and so for the moment, it's fixed... long term however, it may be a different story!

Senior Moment!

I read through a bunch of challenges this morning and remembered that there was one for a humorous card for a chap... 'Make those men laugh!' By the time I came to make the card I kinda forgot that it was from Digital Tuesday and the only vaguely digital element in this card is the sentiment, which I made on the computer, and reads 'You should have seen the one that got away!'. Consequently, as I'd made it, senior moment or not, I thought I would pop it in the challenge anyway.

The sketch is taken from Papertake Weekly Challenge with an element transferred over to the opposite side.

The image is from Jolly Nation, coloured with Copics. The fish has been dotted with glue and sprinkled with Glamour Dust.

It made me smile anyway!

Valentine's Day is coming!

This year I have made a Valentine card with a footballer on, but I guess there has to be a first time for everything. The lady who ordered it was delighted. She said her husband didn't like 'sloppy' cards but did like football. Now here's a Valentine with a penguin on. The image is by Whimsy Doodles. The papers are a mix of Cuddly Buddly and Forever Friends.

I based it on the sketch from Cards and Things and am including it in Crafty Cardmakers' Challenge of Hearts and Romance. It's also for the Love/Valentine theme from Stampavie and More this week.

I coloured it with Copics and added a little faux stitching to make the shapes pop out a little.

A card for a few challenges.

This sweet little Penny Black image hasn't been off the carrying sheet ever since I bought the set quite some time ago. It didn't want to let go either, but fortunately no damage was done in removing it and here it is in this celebratory card.

Progress has been a little slow today, I think I'm still getting over the completion of some Wedding invitations yesterday!

WOYWW

There's really not a whole lot to see today, which is why I've gone for the 'whole thing' this week.
I have you gals to thank for the fact that I got my wedding invites finished yesterday. I said on last week's WOYWW posting that they would probably be finished by today, so yesterday guilt stepped in and I got them finished. Quel relief! (not sure if relief is masculine or feminine!)This is however, the reason for the lack of 'things' on my desk.

The small table draped in my damask table cloth is where I rest my laptop, and use with my whizzy chair down at its lowest level, when blog hopping and posting etc.. When I want to take a picture, the laptop is deposited on the floor, the daylight lamp swung around to light the card and hey presto... just call me David Bailey.

My paper cutters are on the old TV table behind my chair, so you can see the need for a whizzy chair as I need to whizz here there and yon to access my equipment!

The top four drawers on the pine chest are occupied with crafting stuff at the moment, but I'm gradually working south!

This furniture was in my daughter's room and she had a fancy for distressing it. She managed to do the dressing table (my desk|) and a bedside table, but the remainder is in its original state!

My Time to Craft - Elegant Rose

I love this PSX stamp which I believe I bought second hand on eBay quite some time ago. It suits Damask and traditional designs and came immediately to my mind when I saw the theme for this week's challenge at My Time to Craft.

The paper is from Papermania's Joyeux Noel collection, the die cut corners are Cuttlebug and the mount is from a Nellie's Set. I used a Crafty Individuals crackle stamp to overprint the inside of this card. The flower itself is overprinted with a script stamp from Image Tree. I added a little gizmo, (the name of which escapes me) to keep the front of the card closed when required. I added a pearl to this, to link it with the surround of the picture and added a couple of punched leaves to soften the effect of the fastener.

Crafty Angels want to see Paper Folding this week... no easel cards, no pre-made card blanks. I hope this Joy-Fold card qualifies!

Funny Somethings!

This is one of those stamps that is a bit like Marmite... you either like it or loathe it! I kinda like it, in fact most mornings I feel exactly as she does! (The sentiment reads... 'Bring coffee and no-one gets hurt')

Stamp Something has the challenge this week of something to make you smile or 'Funny Somethings' and I immediately thought of this stamp. It is from Stamps Happen. The paper is Forever Friends and the embossing and die-cutting is from Cuttlebug.

Today I've been trying to catch up on a few commission cards and I still have a birthday card to make for my friend's birthday tomorrow. I think that it will be one of my DT cards for a future challenge on One Stop Crafts Challenge Blog. (but I'm not saying what the theme is!)

My daughter and granddaughter are both much better now, so I feel greatly relieved and I would like to thank everyone for their good wishes and kind thoughts!

Pretty in Pink

A card for several challenges!It was great to get back home and find a little parcel waiting on the step for me. I had been looking everywhere for a Martha Stewart Flourish punch, which I had seen used on some fabulous cards yet couldn't find one for love nor money. I thought I was in luck, when my friend Gina pointed me in the direction of a website which indicated that they had one, only to receive a call from them later to say that in fact this was not the case.

However, the lovely lady at Hobby House where I had enquired previously rang me to say that she had found one, so I bought it tout de suite!

Here I used it for the frame of the Forever Friends image, which I coloured with my very favourite Copics. The sentiment is from Cuddly Buddly as is the paper, and the tiny arrow die is from Cuttlebug.

Just Cute Bears

This card is for the first challenge from a new Blog entitled Just Cute Bears. Every challenge must contain a bear image and the theme this time around is 'One for the Girls'. I think most girls enjoy a good celebration don't they!

I used the sketch from CCEE Stampers and the theme of Hearts and Flowers from Allsorts Challenge.

The image is from Cuddly Buddly and the papers are from Forever Friends.. The small hearts square was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, and all the squares are mounted on Nesties.

It's good to be back home following a few days at my daughter's. I'm happy to relate that her surgery went well despite having to have a visit to A&E on the evening prior to it. Daisy, my granddaughter is now also recovering from the dreadful snuffles which made breathing when prone very problematic! I took her to the doctor's but fortunately there was no infection on her chest.

I thought that I would try another easel card this time. I meant to do one for another challenge earlier in the week but the grey cells let me down and I forgot about doing it until it was too late.

So here it is now. I love these flourishes and I don't use them often enough (hence the entry into the Quixotic challenge this week). The card itself is very simple, using a Cuddly Buddly digi paper and a couple of Cuttlebug tiny hearts. The tag comes from a Nellie's Multiframe Die set.

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?
I have been meaning to have a tidy up for quite a while and today was the day. The corner of my desk has been a dumping ground for months and I decided to make my waste bin earn its keep.

I popped over to Makro and bought the little desktop set of drawers, and needless to say there's something in each of them already. Thinking about it, I may just use that for paper and card and put some of the other things elsewhere, but that's for another day.

I wanted to clear some space to do some wedding stationery. I've got several things to get on with and have just been putting it off. I thought that a nice clear workspace would give me the incentive... and it has. I've begun work already!

I've thrown out the lamp you saw in the first picture as the bulb popped and when I tried to replace it; part of the plastic inside the lamp socket had melted, so needless to say, I haven't used it since.

Hopefully by the time I post another picture of my desk this lot of stationery will be completed!!

Valentine Card

I think that this little chap looks as though he would cheer anyone... and I need a little cheering at the moment. My daughter discovered at her 12 week scan on Saturday, that the baby had ceased to develop at 8 weeks and that there was no sign of a heartbeat. She has to go into hospital on Friday for a procedure, the name of which escapes me at the moment, but basically it will be the end of the pregnancy. She had a miscarriage just a few months ago so she needs a bit of luck. All I can say is thank goodness that she has her daughter to cheer her at the moment. I'll be going down to look after my granddaughter towards the end of the week.

My Time to Craft - Damask Delights

The challenge this week over at My Time to Craft is entitled Damask Delights.I don't know about you, but when I hear the word Damask, table cloths immediately spring to mind. In fact if you look closely at the picture you will see that the backdrop for my cards is in fact precisely that... a damask tablecloth. I drape it over a cardboard box, which I have cut down on two sides in order to open up the front and make a little studio!

I had thought about getting one of those light cube thingys, but a chap in a photographic shop said that this works just as well, and with my daylight lamp, it does!

On to the card. I have used both damask paper and a damask patterned embossing folder on Cor-dinations paper, which I lightly sanded after embossing. I love the Brad which is from a Papermania kit, which enables you to use a piece of the backing paper to add the design to it. The stamp is from Penny Black, mounted on Nesties. Sadly this card will be expensive to post as it's rather fat with the brad and the ribbon together. Maybe it can be handed to the recipient!

Whoop de do!

I am delighted to tell you that I have just been asked to join the Design Team at One Stop Crafts! I feel so very flattered and am looking forward to working with all the girls on the team. We have some great challenges coming up and I hope you'll be able to come and join in the fun!

This is my card for this week's challenge which is Fancy Edges or corners.

I have been experimenting with my ribbon hole punch together with a Martha Stewart Border Punch.

I discovered that in order to get the ribbon holes in the correct position beneath the border, I needed to punch the border first. (I should have been able to work this out logically before I started, but I'm a great one for acting first and thinking afterwards!!!) I then used my X Cut punch positioner to punch the ribbon holes equidistantly.

I hope you can understand that lot, but I know what I mean!

The daisies are a Whispers stamp which I mounted on Nesties, and the fancy corners are of course from a 2x2 Cuttlebug die.

I'm a sucker for Daisies... it's my granddaughter's name!

Romantic Roger

Another card using a digi image of Roger from Ellephantasic Cards and Crafts. With Valentine's Day just around the corner I think he'll be getting a few outings.

The Sketch is from Mojo Monday; for Cute Card Thursday, it's Pink & Grey; for Tuesday morning Sketches it's Buttons & Bows, and I've just remembered that I was going to make it as an easel card, but I forgot about that bit. Never mind!

Roger Bear

This is the little bear I downloaded this morning, drawn by Helen from Ellephantastic Cards and Crafts. Since working on her freebie Roger image, I decided that I had to have more! Isn't he a cutie!! I coloured him with my Copics.

The challenges I'm submitting him to are the Papertake Weekly Challenge, whose sketch this is, and Digital Tuesday, for the embossing! I had a feeling that there was a third, but I can't find my notes... Hey Ho!

The papers are digi downloads from Cuddly Buddly called Teddy Bear's Wedding. I think they're so pretty. . I did some free hand doodling around the edges. The flowers were part of my prize from the Penny Black challenge courtesy of the Craft Garden. The tiny buttons, used for the flower centres were also a purchase from Cuddly Buddly. I did the sentiment on the computer.

I have just got back from having my nails done. The most difficult part was getting the car out of our road. Being a cul de sac we don't have a lot of tourists and so the roads are left to their own devices. There was a little neighbourly assistance to get cars moving this morning, but fortunately the main roads were quite passable.

There doesn't seem to be a lot going on at my desk this morning, I have started to colour a couple of downloads I just bought of Roger bear. (Did you see the card with the freebie image a few posts back?) At 75p I reckon these little beauties are a bargain from Ellephantastic Cards and Crafts.

Everybody Art - Snowflakes

The image of course is Magnolia coloured with Copics and the papers are from Cuddly Buddly as are my new miniscule buttons. (The only way I could pick them up was by poking my pokey tool into the holes!) The sentiment is Stampin Up.

I've just eaten almost a whole bag of chocolate covered honeycomb lumps. Talk about moreish. Hasn't done the old waistline any favours!

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge

I bought these papers in a goody bag from my local Paper Mill Shop on Saturday. I would not normally choose these colours, but they were a bargain!!! There were flowers, brads, ribbons, gems etc. in the bag and I couldn't help myself!! They are all from the Papermania Capsule Collection. At the same time, I bought the clear stamps which I used for the image and sentiment, but the packaging has gone from those already and I can't remember the name. I really should take a note of these things.

The sketch is taken from the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge. I found it quite difficult working with such a bold paper, and for contrast, I opted for a plain paper, which I embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, rather than using a complementary paper from the pack. I'm not really sure if the whole thing works, but it's almost there!

Young Love!

This is probably not quite the sort of image one might expect with the title Young Love, but the little chap is young and he obviously loves his doggy so I guess it probably counts. Penned by Mo Manning of Mo's Digital Pencil, I think it's a fabulous image. I coloured him with my Copics and mounted him on Cuddly Buddly digi papers.

The Sketch is from CPS #149 which I rotated, and is also for No Time to Stamp Challenge #121 Love is in the Air.

We haven't seen any of the latest predicted snowfall, let's hope that the worst of the bad weather is over!

The lace had been hanging around in my sewing box for ages and I think it is doing a little more good on this card than in the bottom of the box. The white card is embossed with a Cuttlebug (Victoria) embossing folder. The paper is from Pink Petticoat. I have just acquired the brad making kit from Papermania. My local Paper Mill Shop had them on sale and I succombed on Saturday. I'm rather glad I did as I am pleased with how this one has turned out.

Happy Anniversary!

All day we have been expecting that it would snow, but so far none has appeared. The garden has been full of Redwings and Fieldfares raiding the berries on various shrubs. I don't ever remember seeing them in the garden before, but I've been at the window with my binoculars enjoying a rare sight.

Bah Humbug Challenge!

This is a new Challenge blog to ensure that the Bah Humbug syndrome is not experienced by harassed crafters by the time next Christmas arrives. If you are anything like me (the world's greatest procrastinator) it seems that December always turns up when thoughts of Christmas preparations haven't really taken hold! So with a blog like this one, next December will arrive and all your Christmas cards will be ready!

Here's the first one.

From my bag of cards ready for recycling I chose this little robin, he's so chubby I decided to make him look even rounder by mounting him with Nesties circles. The paper is from my newly tidied and colour coded scrap stash, which I embossed with Cuttlebug random dots. The snowflakes (get this) are from the scraps in the trapdoor of a Christmas corner punch!! How's that for recycling?

Another couple of blogs I've just discovered are Rainbow Lady's Challenge and Crafty Angels, whose challenges this week are also recycling! So this is for those blogs too.

I think I'll be sorting out a few more cards for redevelopment!

This little lot is made totally from scraps and offcuts plus 1 old Christmas Card.

The DIY Nesties were made with some deckle scissors and an existing Nestie, which I used for the embossing, together with an embossing stylus.

Another Cuddly Buddly Image

I downloaded these papers from Cuddly Buddly the other day and I had kind of forgotten about them until my pink parcel with my latest order arrived today. I spotted the papers listed on the invoice and so printed them off straight away. I love the gentle tones of them.

Just Us Girls Challenge asks for any kind of stitching. These papers make me think of patchwork fabrics and so I thought them ideal to add a little faux stitching. The sketch is from Allsorts Challenge and Crazy 4 Challenges asks for a birthday card.

I have discovered a brand new blog called Stampin Royalty and for their first challenge they would like to see a birthday card. So this is for that challenge too and I would like to wish them every success with their new venture.

I coloured Charley's clothes with my Copics to match the papers. I did the sentiment on the computer.

Take it easy Tilda

This week I have managed to get the Copic Colour Challenge done on time. The chosen colours this week are G00 Jade Green, RV21 Light Pink and B32 Pale Blue.

I used the blue and green together on Tilda's dress and shaded the flowers with all three colours before adding the Glamour Dust.

The chair is from a Whimsey Doodle set, printed onto some Clare Curd Signature Range paper. I cut off the legs of the chair to make the frill from another piece of the paper, using the paper pleating technique as described on the Just Magnolia Blog for their challenge this week.

I actually managed to go out today! We went (very slowly)on the snowy roads to the shops... my husband did the grocery shopping, I went to the Paper Mill shop. Quite a good arrangement I think you'll agree! Just managed to get a couple of bargains, which I will be having a play with this afternoon!

I discovered another challenge Blog

This is a sketch which caught my eye (whilst cruising around a few blogs), because of its clean simplicity.

It's from Limelight Papercrafts, a blog which is new to me.

I have used a digi image from a set by Cuddly Buddly and with the World Cup approaching, I think it's going to prove most useful!

I altered the buttons by adding a punchie from the accompanying backing paper. The birthday paper is Patchwork of Papers Blue, also from Cuddly Buddly.

I coloured him with Copics and edged the mount with the same pen to tie in with the colour scheme.

I made a card with Southampton's colours a few posts back. I'll dedicate this one to Portsmouth!

Oriental Style

I enjoyed working on this card. It began as a colouring exercise with the image from Mo's Digital Pencil. It was quite intricate for Copics but I found it quite relaxing to do.

The background is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, the name of which escapes me for the moment. The embellishment along the bottom is cut from a 6x2 Cuttlebug die. I always put some double sided adhesive sheet onto the back of my cardstock before running it through the bug, so that all I have to do is peel and stick! No messing with glue!

Still lots of snow around here. The road outside my house is still several inches deep!

Joy-Folded Card

After I had seen the instructions for this type of card on a tutorial on the Dutch Dare Blog, I decided to have a go for myself.The instructions were clear and simple to follow, otherwise I'm sure that I would have got into a pickle.
I bought these digi images from Whimsie Doodles yesterday and decided to try one out.

I really enjoyed making this one. The little oval embellishment is partly stuck down so that the centre part of the card can be tucked behind it to keep it closed.

Distressing

I began this card this morning after looking at various challenge blogs. I decided to use the colours from Copic Challenges (as I had all the relevant colours in my collection) without realising that today is the day a new challenge is posted on that blog and by the time I came to upload it, my colours were out of date!!! How distressing is that?

The card itself is lightly distressed with chalk inks, overprinted with a crackle stamp and a little Glamour Dust added, none of which is terribly obvious on the picture. As the Creative Card Crew's challenge is 'Distressing' I'm feeling distressed enough to add it to that blog too. The sketch is from Create 4 fun and was great to work with! I made the sentiment on the computer.

I have just discovered the challenge at Your Next Stamp, where the theme this week is embossing, so this is for that challenge too. The papers are from Pink Petticoat.

2 Sketches 4 You

I downloaded this fab image from In Style Stamps yesterday, after I had seen the wonderful examples by the DT on 2 Sketches 4 You. I love this quirky style of drawing and I think I'll have lots of use from this image.

As always, I love the clean uncluttered lines of the sketch. It took me ages to get the bow attached to the flat ribbons today as it was near the end of the rolls of both ribbons and I didn't have a lot to play with, but I got there in the end.

As these colours, blue and brown, are some of my favourites together, I am entering this for Everybody Art Challenge . In fact I have posted several cards with this combo on my blog this week.

WOYWW

For the first time for a few weeks, I somehow seem to know that today is Wednesday. The days have all been merging into one another over the holiday when we were both visiting and being visited. SO today, I remembered to take a pic of my desk.

I also took a picture of my garden from my bedroom window this morning to see a sight not often envisaged in these 'ere parts... snow! It has been snowing steadily since this was taken and is now a lot thicker!! I have also remembered to go out and put more food on the bird table. Poor little things, I don't know where they shelter in this cold weather.

I am supposed to be getting down to making some more wedding stationery, but being the world's greatest procrastinator, it's taking me a while to get around to it. Once I get started I'll be fine, but I need to clear my space completely (no mean feat) and get organised for my production line!

Cards & Things - Sketch

I love simple, uncluttered layouts, which is why this one from Cards & Things appealed to me immediately.
I downloaded the football digi image and paper from Cuddly Buddly this morning and decided to use the C&T sketch to make my card. I have put him in Southampton's colours, but of course any team's strip could be used. The sentiment is a Cuddly Buddly rubber stamp, which fits neatly into Nesties.
