Good morning WOYWWers!
I've been saving this picture to show you today!
This is the haul I bought at the NEC last week. I went a little mad... but it was all totally necessary you understand.
There certainly some very good prices to be had, but it just costs so much money to save some!
I went with two friends, whom I met for the first time on Thursday...Val and Anne, and here we all are in Birmingham.
Actually at the moment my workdesk is my dining room table as I'm in the process of recovering a pelmet for my daughter. She is moving her daughter into a new room prior to the arrival of the new baby in January and so a few alterations are necessary. She is keeping the same curtains, as they were quite expensive and are only a couple of years old, but by changing just the pelmet with some coordinating fabric and matching it with the wallpaper it should look great. I have managed to match the pattern fairly accurately on the fabric which is a great relief. (Zoom in and see if you can see the join!) I have covered the original with several layers of white material in order to make a suitable base lining for the light coloured fabric. All I have to do now is to stick this down and then stitch on the backing.
We will be off to London shortly, to see a matinee performance of Oliver followed by dinner at a restaurant called Bel Canto, where the waiting staff are opera singers and serenade you as they serve the meal. Should be fun!
If you'd like to see work desks around the world, pop over to Julia's, the link is on my sidebar, and have yourself a good old snoop.
I've heard about NEC and curious, so thanks for the post. Also, those birdies are beautiful - not sure what a pelmet is but now I'm gonna look it up - the colors and craftsmanship looks stunning!

ReplyDeleteImpressive haul from the NEC - all absolutely necessary, of course! Looks as though you had a great day. The material is really pretty and just right for a baby's room - it should look lovely. Is it a girl by any chance, I only ask because there seems to be quite lot of pink owls in the fabric. That restaurant sounds like a whole lot of fun. Regards, Elizabeth #63

Chrissie,
ReplyDeleteIt's bad enough that I am running late, then I have been plagued with that pesky 503 error all night. Just wanted to drop in and let you know I was here this week. Looks like you scored big time. No impulse control? That's OK. I'm sure you'll use it all OR find a place to put it where you can admire it.
