Have yourself a fabulous birthday

A short while ago I drew a sketch for the Facebook CAS Card Making Group, (where I am a moderator) using this card as the model. It is so similar to the sketch at Just add Ink, that as I haven't previously blogged this card, I thought I would do it now!
This is the sketch from Just Add Ink.

I was using up scraps to make this card... even the die-cut flowers are from very old Cuttlebug dies. There's something about kraft or this neutral shade and white which I find particularly pleasing. The ring is mounted on foam tape to add a little dimension.
The sentiment is by Personal Impressions.

Thanks

Today I saw the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and I loved it so thought I would make a few cards using it. This is the first of those.

I made a quick video showing a couple of ways to attach intricate die cuts to projects.

I think that the Micro Dots are a great idea.
The embossing folder is by Nellie Snellen and the sentiment by Penny Black.

Hello

I have quite a few green flowers in my garden. Most of them are hellebores which are shade loving plants and thrive in the shadow of my neighbour's garage. This die by Simon Says Stamp was stacked a couple of times with the top layer being a piece of relaxed shaving foam technique card which I made quite some time ago. this is my video of that technique.

The embossed panel is from a Memory Box die, I usually only use a portion of the impression, as the size differs from the card bases used in the UK.
I don't recall the make of the sentiment die, but a chopped on part of one of the tails to add it to the card. Looking at the picture I may chop off a little more to make it flush with the edge of the embossed panel!

I went with the picture

40

Some years ago one of my cards found its way to a recipient who lives in Ireland. I usually put a little sticker on the back my cards with my name, phone number and email details etc and in this case it has brought many, many commissions from this particular lady. Every now and again I will receive a text from her requesting a bunch of cards. Sometimes it will be months and months between requests but it's always good to hear from her.
The stamp used here is an old wood mounted one from Inkadinkadoo, which I think was called My Mother's Dress. I have another smaller version of it somewhere which came as part of a clear stamp set, but I've always loved it. I stamped it in black Versafine ink and then embossed it with WOW Black twinkle embossing powder. I began by colouring it with watercolour pencils, but it was just too insipid for the effect I wanted to achieve, so went over it with a couple of shades of red Copic markers.
I embossed some black card with the same EP and cut the numbers (Sizzix) and the shoes (Britannia Dies) from it. I tired to be a bit subtle with the shoes adding a slightly offset, under layer of red to suggest the brand of rather special manufacturer!

Stille Nacht

Recently I have discovered quite a few new (to me) craft store websites in Europe and love the purchases I have made. The trouble is I get them muddled as to what came from where... so the sentiment and church  fall into that category.
I prefer to sing this carol in the original German, it just seems more evocative somehow, so I was delighted to get the die of it. Many years ago we visited the little chapel in Austria commemorating the composing of this carol and although not exactly like it, (I believe that one has a domed roof,) the image on the bauble is to represent it.

Celebrate right now

I'm afraid the gold on this card is not very clear, but I used the alcohol lift technique on my background and whilst the ink was still wet, added some gilding flakes.
The foliage stamp is from Impression Obsession and the sentiment from Technique Tuesday, embossed in gold.

Have a magical birthday

This card is just a bit of fun. The rabbit was a 'thank you' freebie from Charlie & Paulchen with a recent order. I simply found a free piece of clip art of a magician's hat to pop him into, which I printed, cut out, and shaped, mounting it on some foam tape to keep the shape and adding a computer generated sentiment. The fonts used are Champagne and Limousines and Baby Lalisa.
The bunny was gently coloured with alcohol markers.

Just a note

It seems that I have been AWOL from my blog for a while so I thought I should remedy that. Here is a card made using part of a stencil, which I masked and inked with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink. It was applied with a blending brush, using less colour the further up the stencil I went, to give an ombre effect. I added a couple of birds, stacked several times to give definition and a simple sentiment from Personal Impressions. I believe the birds are Memory Box.

Hi

Not too long ago I discovered a craft company in Germany  called Charlie and Paulchen and was so taken by their die designs that I put in quite a few orders.  This little bunny was included with one of my orders as a 'thank you' and I think he is the cutest! The carton die is also by C&P. The 'hi' is from an old Cuttlebug die.  I coloured the bunny with some Copic markers. It's the simplest of cards but it gave me pleasure to make it!
