Week 87

We are being joined by the fabulous Susan Goetter as our Guest Designer at "Less is More " this week, as once more we have we a fifth Saturday in the month. 

For our theme, we have chosen Love and Marriage.

Here is one of my all time favourite looks... white on white. The sentiment is computer generated and the rest is simply die cuts and embossing, with a few tiny pearls to finish the flowers.

...and yet more, this time with a stamped and heat embossed sentiment. Since making this I added entwined die-cut initials onto the smaller heart for the recipient couple. 

I must make myself add some colour to a wedding or anniversary card!

Week 86 at Less is More

We have had this challenge a few times previously at "Less is More" and it's quite good fun.

I love the shape of these primitive hearts from Tim Holtz, Movers and Shapers dies. I inked them, then stamped them with a Hero Arts background stamp and added some washi tape. The manuscript is from the SU wheel stamp. I think the sentiment tag is from a Papermania die. Sentiment is Stampin' Up.

Today is my friend's birthday, she is our son's Godmother and she has never forgotten to send him a card for each of his 36 birthdays. She used to call him her little man... he's not so little these days.

Week 85 at Less is More

Another week, another challenge at Less is More and this time it's to use an 

OVAL 

somewhere on a card.

In fact I love using simple shapes for mounting images. I have a whole heap of differently shaped Spellbinder labels, (more than I should have really) but really prefer to use simple circles, ovals, squares or rectangles. It probably goes with my love of Less is More values.

Isn't this a cute little boat from The Rubber Stamp Gallery, I simply coloured it with Promarkers and  drew a few random seagulls and added the waves, which were made from the scraps from my SU scalloped punch.

The letters are from the Sizzix Typeset die.

From the same company here is a fab sea bird, I'm not sure if it's a curlew or what, but I love it. If I had a cottage by the sea I would love one of these chaps sitting on the window ledge looking out at the waves.

This one does and doesn't have much white space if you see what I mean... because it is layered I guess, but I love the effect of the recessed oval. It's fun anyway. The image is from Hero Arts, I have the jacket, but I'm afraid I'm missing the boots from the set, if I find one I must get it... if any one sees one for sale somewhere, do let me know. The sentiment is from Studio G.

I haven't been awake enough most weeks to realise that it was Wednesday in time to post a pic of my desk. This week I remembered and my desk is really clear... for me, just the remnants of a few things I was doing yesterday.

You can see my fairly new Stampin' UP score board including the diagonal plate. I have more score boards than you could shake a fairly large stick at! Score Pal, Score Buddy, Hougie Board, Crafters Companion, Enveloper Pro, and one made from MDF which was the first one I ever bought.... that's at the bottom of a drawer somewhere.

However with this latest one I can make envelopes for just about any card size I choose to make. There's a practice one in sight! Some new stamps, my pressie (the rather fancy pen in the case) from my lovely friend Mandi.

That's kinda it... how boring.

My lovely granddaughter Daisy, in her first week in school was given a certificate in assembly for "Special person of the week". I think it was because she was so polite and enthusiastic.

Well done Daisy.

Week 84 at Less is More

Week 84 At Less is More

It's One Layer Week again at Less is More and this time there is a variation on a theme for the one layer creations, it's 

Foliage

I have done my old faithful masking stamping and sponging, I don't make any apology for using this technique yet again as I really love it. Details of how it was done are on the LIM blog.

   

There are some beautiful leaf stamps available and Stampin' Up's French Foliage as used here, is one of my favourites. 

This one layer card uses the letterpress technique and a Cuttlebug embossing folder was inked on one side before the card was inserted and run through the machine. I think it's a simple technique which is quite effective.
This one fits perfectly with Simplicity's theme of Gratitude this week too

This eucalyptus stamp from Rubber Stampede was inked with three colours of Distress ink before stamping down the side of the card.
The lovely handwritten sentiment is from an Art Impressions stamp.







It seems that summer may have arrived in the UK, we have had some beautifully sunny days in the past week, let's hope it persists.
Daisy started school this week and despite falling down in the playground on the first day and grazing her knee and face, she is loving it.

She looks so grown up for a 4 year old don't you think?

Brown and Pink for LIM

I love the combination of pink and brown particularly when the brown is as rich and chocolatety as this card from the Paper Mill, bought before their shops closed down. The flowers are from Dienamics dies and the holes from a Memory box die from Simon Says Stamp. (Mandi had the same idea totally independently from me.... we do think alike at times)

The sentiment is from a Cuttlebug die and the finishing touches are a length of pink gingham ribbon and a couple of brown pearls.

I love this negative flourish stamp from WOW, it both stamps and embosses so well. Here I used it for the backing and the butterflies.The embossing on the pink rectangle is from an SU folder.

This last one uses SU Bright blossoms set. My 4 year-old granddaughter had a great time stamping with these stamps last weekend. She coloured the individual sections of each stamp with markers and was really very careful about it. I was really proud of her. She'll be starting school next week, so I sent her a little card to wish her luck.

I'm not quite sure where I got the digi image for this one, maybe someone will enlighten me! I hope she has a great time.
